Potholes

Look Brighton and Hove City Council has no money to waste on repairing potholes for goodness sake. But at least they bailed out Pride!

Says it all really! Never mind the good people of Brighton and the surrounding areas that plough their hard earned hackers into the local economy for the other 51 weeks of the year. Hey hoo, as long as the fruits can have a jolly good time in the summer. (not to sound fruitist of course!)

You've not seen potholes till you've driven down the Boulevard in Haywards Heath. Its an absolute DISGRACE the state of that road, its like the final stage of the Dakar Rally. The council have made some half-arsed effort at filling in a couple of the holes, but thats just disintegrated already leaving grit and ditches ALL OVER the shop. Some of the holes are so big you actually have to swerve to avoid them, or risk f***ing up your suspension. Anyone in a Smart Car risks plumetting into a rocky cavern, never to be seen again.

Oh, and helpfully, they've put signs up at both ends of the street saying "temporary road surface". Yeah, temporary for about the last TWO MONTHS while you've done the square route of f***-all about it.

This. I almost feel I should apologise to my car after the daily commute. The road from wivelsfield to haywards Heath also resembles the surface of the moon.

You're too ugly to be gay!

Notters, I mean no offense fella, post 20 refers to there being no money to repair roads, but "Pride has been bailed out" I totally appreciate that this event brings needed revenue into the City, don't get me wrong. However, at the expense of my poor car's suspension, I would like the roads to be drivable. I am not homophobic nor do I have any issues what so ever to "pride" being in Brighton. I'm not a spotty 13 year old looking to stir up controversial nonsense on a message board. When you post "ffs not this again" for me, it's a bit like you're labeling me with some sort of lynching posse! (maybe I've gotten outta the wrong side of the bed!)

Not Luton! Thank God
THere isn't any point doing permanent repairs to potholes during the winter. Unless the ground is dry the new bitumen won't stick so it'll just fall out after a few cars go over it.

There is but councils have opted for a cheaper alternative to this problem and it no longer contains an additive that helped to prevent the frost from getting in and breaking it up - Thats why so many of these potholes are old potholes that have been repaired rather than new area of existing roadway crumbling for the first time.

It is a case of saving a few pence at the time of repair but spending more long term by having to repair them more often, basically false economy but as it is the public sector, they deal with short term rather than long term savings as their idea of best value.

Tivoli Place has the worst potholes in Brighton by a long way.

Is that the road just up from Preston park train station (the Station pub side of the tracks) after you have gone to the top of the hill and around the corner there is a short road there just off there that has really deep potholes and has been that way long before the Winter weater caused the current potholes elsewhere. (It looks like a private road but i couldn't see a name anywhere.)
