I think I've had enough of Hughton. There, I've said it. He did a great job in getting us where we are but personally I don't see him taking us forward.

That's not for us to decide is it? We have very well paid executives to decide if a change is necessary. We also have a very well paid, incoming technical director who might decide that things need changing.

Bit of a cop-out surely? You say that you can't see Hughton taking us forward, but are seemingly bereft of ideas as to who could / should?

Of course it isn't....but you've stated that you've had enough...so presumably have an idea of who you want to replace him, which is what the other poster asked....but hey its just a question no obligation to answer

Before the game, I would gladly have taken a point. After 5 minutes, I thought we had a reasonable chance of winning it. That remained the case right up the red (I will concede that right before the red, I was starting to think that we might only get a draw).

I thought we played more assertively away than just about any game for the last 18 months, and barring some very good goalkeeping, and an excellent strike against the run of play, we’d have gone in at HT one or even two goals up.

Better crossing, a slightly less good oppo keeper, and no red card would have seen us win that game quite comfortably.

Small margins.

So we (naively in my opinion) change to a more attacking side, to TAKE THE GAME TO THEM... came away with the inevitable loss and you're still complaining?

What did you think the PL was going to be like may I ask? When we were promoted at molineux (not mathematically but we all knew it), I knew then and there that the enjoyment at away games was going to be obliterated, and that it was important to remember just how rare points are in the circus that is the PL. Away wins were going to be few and far between and therefore more special, and very likely smash and grabs.

Because of our past, I honestly thought our fanbase would have more patience than this. Depressingly, turns out we are just as thick as the rest and less than 2 seasons in, we are demanding attractive football away from home despite having an amazing home record and players of a quality that we could have only dreamt about a few years back.

You shoud direct your frustrations at the Premier League, the cost of football as fans and the absurdly disproportionate wealth present at the top of our league structure. We are trying to survive here, for long term gain, where generations after us just might have their own dreams fulfilled.

A poll a few weeks back (started by [MENTION=6886]Bozza[/MENTION] possibly?) showed an overwhelming 90% of us would take wins under any circumstances, over losses with style, all day long. Someone commented that they leave the Amex with a warm glow after a narrow eked out win. I’m happy with CH getting our points in any dour way he wants, whilst we slowly build a PL quality squad.

I actually agree with a lot of what you say. The Premier League is fantastic if you’ve got a comfy sofa and a Sky Sports subscription. It’s not actually that much fun if you support a bottom 14 team in the stadium.

All I’d say in response to your point is that I’m not demanding results away from home. I’m just infuriated by the manager’s refusal to change anything, despite the fact we’ve lost 20 of our last 30 on the road. I fully expect a club like us to lose a lot of away games in this division but I do not expect highly paid management and players to spend 18 months doing exactly the same thing when it clearly doesn’t work.



When I saw the team I hoped we might be about to see Locadia and Andone upfront together. That would have been an attacking move and a much needed shake up of our approach. Simply replacing a specialist winger with a striker who doesn’t appear to have the attributes to play in that position is baffling.

I agree that Bissouma is potentially a decent player and him and Propper is our best combination. But that change alone is not enough for me to think we went for it.

For what it’s worth, I think we need to accept none of our wingers have what it takes to affect away matches in this league. I would play a diamond with Stephens at the base, Propper and Bissouma in the middle and Gross at the front. That should give us more control in the key area. Then I’d have Andone and Locadia up top. It gives us more bodies in the places where games are decided rather than two lightweight wingers who rarely contribute and hopefully avoids our striker being completely isolated.

I would presume that the Technical Director will instead help build squad quality, amongst other things. CH’s job is as secure as it ever was.

I've been to the likes of Darlington on a wet and cold Tuesday night when we were on the cusp of disappearing forever. We expected to lose every one of those games but still went, hopeful of a win. Sometimes we won, not often, but we tried These days are different. We have the personnel to compete but don't. That is what annoys.

As if my thoughts about who could/should take us forward is going to make any difference. We have people being paid huge salaries to make those decisions. Based on our away form over 18 months in the Premier League I'd suggest that we are lacking something. If you can't see that then it is likely that you don't watch us away from home. If you do then you need to take your Hughton glasses off. We are dire away from home. Dire.

But isn’t the PL a unique first of about 15 clubs spending unbelievable sums (fees, wages and agents fees) on very good to exceptional players from across the globe? Winning away has always been tricky, but the Albion are now facing these games up against bloody good teams and benches. In addition, with their seasons head start on us in squad building and know-how, even clubs such as Watford and Bmuff have a further advantage over us.

Hush now. It's ok to ask questions about our away performances. They have been DIRE for 2 seasons now. Truly DIRE. Not just results. But performances. Consistently. And in complete contrast to majority of our home ones. I for one am not expecting us to win at Anfield etc on a regular basis. But I do expect us to test the keeper now and again.
