Ultimately we failed to score, again, and came away with zero points. Again. Hughton's record away from home is as good as a goal start to the opposition. He needs to look at what he does at Lancing every day. Our shit form away from home is down to one thing. I'll let you decide what that might be.

Our result was not down to a shit referee. Yes, he fecked up but we should have been out of sight by then. If it isn't down to Hughton then it is down to his coaching staff.

We are just so predictable away from home now. Something seriously wrong with the mentality, tactics, application...everything basically when it comes to Albion on the road.

Who on earth can afford to pay so much and waste their weekend knowing it's almost certain we'll lose; there's a stupidly high chance we won't score; and a fair bet we won't have a shot on target?

Different when the players are bought with bags of balls and tracksuits, but these are taking home millions for their 'skills'

I have tickets for 2 more away games. After that, that's it. Before anybody questions that-I have been following the Albion longer than most on here have been on the planet. Hughton has killed my Albion Mojo away from home. He needs to change how he does things.

The away tickets were all grabbed gleefully. I can’t see the attraction myself at present, to see an entire free day wiped out in travelling to see a likely loss. Hopefully improvements in squad quality in the next year or two, will see us going into these games with far greater prospects.

Agree when, more than ever, it's so expensive and inconvenient.

Agree with this. The lack of willingness to try anything different is what frustrates me more than anything else. In 27 away games in the Premier League we’ve managed four wins and just 17 goals. So why is he still playing largely the same players in exactly the same formation? Get with the times Chris, it DOESN’T work. The whole thing just feels very complacent to me and the lack of drive comes from having such a passive, reactive man in charge.

Here's me thinking he played quite an attacking line up today. First half was decent. We have to be patient, I can be critical but I'm pleased that Hughton mixed it up today - trying to look at the bigger picture!

I’m with you. I’ve been watching the Albion since I was 8 years old in 1995. I’ve done 900 odd matches. I’ve got tickets for West Ham and Fulham and after that I’m done with away games for the foreseeable. It’s a joke that people in the stands with no experience or qualifications in football can see exactly how every match will go and so much of what we’re doing wrong while someone else is paid millions a year to churn out the same old turd with no recriminations.

So we (naively in my opinion) change to a more attacking side, to TAKE THE GAME TO THEM... came away with the inevitable loss and you're still complaining?

What did you think the PL was going to be like may I ask? When we were promoted at molineux (not mathematically but we all knew it), I knew then and there that the enjoyment at away games was going to be obliterated, and that it was important to remember just how rare points are in the circus that is the PL. Away wins were going to be few and far between and therefore more special, and very likely smash and grabs.

Because of our past, I honestly thought our fanbase would have more patience than this. Depressingly, turns out we are just as thick as the rest and less than 2 seasons in, we are demanding attractive football away from home despite having an amazing home record and players of a quality that we could have only dreamt about a few years back.

You shoud direct your frustrations at the Premier League, the cost of football as fans and the absurdly disproportionate wealth present at the top of our league structure. We are trying to survive here, for long term gain, where generations after us just might have their own dreams fulfilled.

I’m interested in how this opinion that he played an attacking team has come about as you’re not the first person to say it.

From what I can see he played exactly the same formation as he does every week. Only today he elected not to use two wingers on the wing, instead he thought a striker who hasn’t started a game since September was the right man to hug the left touchline. I would argue that is always likely to make us less of an attacking threat. In midfield he picked Bissouma over Stephens which I agree is a bolder choice, but it’s been done before and is hardly gung ho! It’s just a standard midfield player instead of an ultra defensive one.

The combination of Propper and Bissouma, at least to my unqualified eye, looked hugely more dynamic than when we have Stephens in the lineup. They both tend to look forward, and Bissouma in particular is prepared to run from midfield and take players on - not sure I have ever seen Stephens do that. Locadia also did OK, but he’s no winger - he kept drifting infield (natural instinct ? Failure to follow instructions?) and isn’t as good defensively as Mach, Knocky or Jose but he did some good stuff. Possibly worth a start with Andone in a 442 type formation maybe.

I think Bissouma will be a lot more than a ‘standard’ midfielder before too long for what it’s worth. Give him game time, he’s getting better and better.

Based on today's performance I wish I shared your optimism. Sometimes I wonder where Hughton's head is at in games like today. A goal down so let's bring on a defender? Really Chris? What the hell does that do to get us back into a game that we should have been front?

Yet more "encouraging signs". We were a goal down and he bought on Bong. That's really encouraging.

It doesn't matter how encouraging things might look with a change of formation-if they're learning bog all during the week in training it all means diddly squat. Other teams seem so better coached than us most of the time. Solly March taking free kicks ffs? His corners are dreadful most of the time-let's have him take a crucial free kick too and watch it sail over the bar. Sorry but that is down to coaching, or lack of. Everybody should know what their rôle is in crucial situations like free kicks.

I don't see your views as a lynching expedition.
I see it as a frustration of us not winning, or not even getting a draw.
I can understand this, but I do think that Chris Hughton is the best we have at the moment, given his induction into Albions history.
I want him to stay and complete the task in hand, in making us a PL regulars.
I do not want any other coach coming in.......of course IMO

That's not for us to decide is it? We have very well paid executives to decide if a change is necessary. We also have a very well paid, incoming technical director who might decide that things need changing.

And think you’re correct re prices......think I paid £17 for an U21 ticket and £30 for mine today. Leeds was about £70 for two tickets I seem to recall.
