So Kylo Ren has posted his review of the film...
Have to disagree. Luke always was a bit of a dick right? In ANH, he's all bumping into people bars, stropping out with his guardians because he can't go shopping with his mates, teenage dizzy over a girl in a hologram, saying stupid lines like 'I'm Luke Skywalker I'm here to rescue you'. Petulant annoying spoilt brat in ESB when Yoda is trying to train him. Then suddenly a full on pretentious guru in RotJ - when we think of how powerful Jedi are, he makes a right balls up in Jabba's palace for example.
I think they got this grizzled old man, a hero and legend of the galaxy a status that he feels he barely deserves, messes up the training of his nephew, tries to go into hiding where he stews on how little he knows or understands about the force, how the Jedi were wrong all along to think they could just control the force and bring peace to the galaxy. I thought Yoda's appearance and light chuckle at him for being 'the same old Luke' was brilliant, but actually the solitude, the disconnection with the force has led to an understanding and appreciation of it that allows him to do something monumental, a final act of sacrifice that required all the power and potential he never fulfilled, and he saves the resistance. I think this mirrors the solitude both Obi Wan and Yoda experienced that allowed them to reappear after death through the force.
Luke was always flawed. It would have been wrong to make Luke some wise Yoda like character who suddenly trains Rey and he and she save the galaxy or whatever. We have to remember Luke is or was so flawed it needed Obi Wan to convince Yoda to train in him in the first place. If you really watch ANH again, this really is the person the young Luke was going to grow up to be.
If he can summon objects without effort, surely he'd be able to open up a couple of space barn-doors.
I'm not asking why he didn't tackle the order solo, just make a little escape out of one room.
Just on the first train out of Victoria having seen a midnight showing at the Imax. Got to say that I think I must have seen a different film to most of you.
That was quite brilliant. Definitely in my top 3 Star Wars films.
Well I thoroughly enjoyed it, actually I loved it. After the disappointment of TFA being a remake of New Hope, I was relieved this one wasn’t a remake of Empire (although it had it’s moments). This is a top 3 SW film, have no doubt.

It had everything a star wars fan could wish for
Only she isn't. Thought she understood Ren - failed. Couldn't save the resistance, only take a few tie fighters with her, Luke saves the resistance - failed. She is conflicted, went straight for the dark side - failed. If you really knew what a Mary Sue was after banging on about it for 2 years you'd b able to go into the cinema with an open mind.
Luke knew Yoda, Obi Wan, even Leia and yet both Ren & Rey have more force power than he's ever felt. You therefore have to accept that the force maybe impacting on Rey and Ren differently than any other force person before.
We'll never agree of course, but just the parallel of Luke feeling the good in his father and surrending to the emperor, Rey gets it completely wrong with Ren. Rey is a flawed character, she therefore cannot be a Mary Sue.
Maybe because as always with the Liberal Hollywood dip shits these days they inject politics into something that never had it before and doesn't need it now.
Then there's the fact they shit all over many beloved Star Wars characters. Everyone I know who loves it doesn't know crap about the Star Wars Universe nor has any emotional attachment to the franchise.
Sorry what? You don’t think there’s ever been politics in Star Wars? Have you seen any of the films before TFA? Or do you just not know what politics is as a concept?
Sorry what?
Star Wars was always Good V Evil and the eternal struggle between it. How many times do you need for them to mention the light and the dark side to comprehend that?
I've seen all the previous films many a time, this film has Hollywood Liberal shitlordery written all over it like nothing ever in the SW world. A view that is being shared by many people of all walks of life.
Obvious is obvious.
I know it’s all opinions... but how was it better than Rogue One let alone any of originals?
