Sadly I have to agree with this. Post count and join date can be useful indicators to the validity of a post

Sadly I have to agree with this too, we have recently seen a spate of trolls posting rubbish about players joining, etc, as their first or second post...if you haven't been on NSC for a while, which can happen, then there are few other ways of sorting the rubbish from the...well, less rubbish!

Spot on.

If it costs, causes a problem or creates work I'd say off, if not I'd say leave on. Voted OFF though in the hope of a binfest!

Is there a way of not displaying them in posts, but for them to still be visible under 'user profile'? If so, that would be my suggestion. That way people who query posts by 'JCLs/newbies' can check and possibly choose to ignore and the ones who aren't fussed can carry on as normal.

Replace the numbers with named categories, beginning with the JCL category for new members, and ending with the super-fan category for the top 5% (or whatever) of post counts (which are hidden).

so what your saying is that newbies dont know anything about BHA and dont have an opinion. post count is irrelevant when it comes to stupid posts.

Obviously not looking at your post.

TMP said "some of the newbies" by no means did I read that as "every new fan being clueless about all things related BHA".

Don't be so precious.

leave it alone - I can't think of any forum that omits a post count so why is it such a bad thing on here?
Indeed. The objections seem to be solely that people with big post counts see themselves as 'superior', which is just bollocks. I've never seen anybody say "well my post count is 20,000 and yours is only 900 so therefore I'm right".

In fact, the opposite. It's embarrassing to have my post count, not a thing of pride. Get rid.

Keep them. It gives you some clue as to how to take a post. There is so much complete and utter bollox posted by some of the newbies that it's handy to know so you can ignore them.

a. I don't need a post count to tell me if someone is posting complete and utter bollox
b. Complete and utter bollox isn't the exclusive preserve of the newbies!
