This is potentially great news for Turkey, providing all or most sects of the Turkish military support it.
Erdogan is potentially the greatest threat to Turkey since it was founded. He is well on his way to becoming a despot, destroying everything Ataturk stood for.
Let's hope that the coup is led by the Kemalist military, and that they are successful.
not sure a military coup trumps democracy.......yet obviously some people have no problem with this
Shame for turkey that the coup didn't work out. Better luck next time
that depends on where the democracy is being taken. if its towards religious authoritarian rule, its probably not very democratic any more.
The world is going to look very different in a short space of time - France and the issues they are having with terrorism, Coups, Brexit and potentially Trump
This.I wonder if there will be a next time. After an alleged assassination attempt a few years ago, a lot of top brass in the military were jailed, allegedly on trumped up charges. Following this, the free press was shut down, so I dread to think what's on the cards now for Turkey's "democracy".
This.
Erdogan and his "democracy" is not good for Europe at all. I can't believe western governments fawn over him and his foreign policy.
Islam is coming.
Get ready folks.

From the Independent. Whether or not it's true it's a conspiracy, the report that nearly 2800 judges have been removed from their offices is an indication of things to come, I fear.

It was a bit bizarre. Most of the soldiers caught looked like young teenagers with ill fitting uniforms being chased and captured by people pointing mobile phones at them..
