Coup looks set to fail

yet Erdogan is apparently fleeing the country, certainly not in the country or in control. my reading so far is the army isnt willing to shot on the civilians, which make it look like its not in control when crowds surround tanks and trucks.

the rebels dont seem to have done a very good job though. saw a little while ago the TV station they broadcast from was taken over, theres at least three TV stations broadcasting, everyones on their phone so communications havent been closed down. certainly the people are out on the streets, its not entirely clear whos side anyone is other than being turkish. not alot of martial law so it looks like its not going to plan, fizzling out and failed.

Erdogan must end up looking weak though, doing a runner rather than returning to capital.

He has already . Where have you been?

Erdogan has apologized. He had no choice. Turkey's tourism has been crippled in the south as Putin but a block on Russians holidaying in Turkey. That has now been lifted

Which is a damn shame. I wish the russian filth were banned from ever leaving their own country.
At least Mexico (so far) is a blissful haven from the vermin of the russian tourist.

It looks like they have the presenters hostage, forcing them to read out statements, the woman looks distressed

My daughter is in Turkey right now with her Mum, flying home tomorrow.

A long way away from Istanbul near Dalaman on the coast. No signs of unrest at all currently.

Hoping for a safe return for them.

I believe that's pro-government 'civilians'.
Who knows though, really.

Erdogans master plan to wipe out secularism once and for all.

As coups go it was all a bit tinpottery. Military leaders didn't have a clue there was a coup going on and it was all started by conscript soldiers who couldn't wait to hand over there weapons to the armed police.

Flying the False Flag high.

Looks like it's kicking off at cnn turk now

http://www.cnnturk.com/canli-yayin

Nobody in the studio for ages, now some guy has turned up.. weird.

The CNN Turk editor-in-chief had just been on the phone with Anderson Cooper. Apparently pro-coup soldiers landed in the parking lot by helicopter and forced them off the air. Angry anti-coup protesters started arriving and congregating in the parking lot. Police arrived and there was a stand-off between the soldiers and the demonstrators with the police keeping them apart. The editor-in-chief thought that the latest was that the police were effectively keeping the soldiers "hostage" to protect them from the angry protesters!
