What if terrorists landed them gently in the sea, and then kept everyone on board as the plane gently sank?
Did they do something like that in the Hudson? I appreciate the Hudson was a calm river, rather than an ocean, so it's not the same, but presumably the ocean can be calm sometimes? If they managed to land "gently" in mid ocean at 200 miles per hour without breaking up the aircraft then that would be a miracle.
I know. I think it's more likely than the plane being taken by aliens though. Maybe not by much, but slightly.Also...why bother? If you're a terrorist you want to be noticed a peaceful sinking hardly seems to be their style.

- do they know if there was any valuable art on board?Art thieves hijack a 747, hit fog and crash into the ocean, trapping them and the passengers under 100 feet of water.
Any update on this?
If it was hijacked or all the power went out etc wouldn't there have been at least one call from someone onboard to a family member? I'm not sure if the phones would have worked on this particular plane but there were a lot of calls from the planes involved in 9/11.
These planes were over the USA and at low altitude. You are never going to get a cell signal above about 10,000 feet and even then you would have to be above a mast. If it was over the sea then impossible for a signal. If over land, then unlikely as just a guess, but I suspect cell coverage in Malaysia or Vietnam is somewhat less than downtown NYC.

Even in these circumstances surely if the crew reacted then at least one crew member would have been tasked with some sort of mayday call that would have got throughthe fella on sky news this morning came up with this theory, a catastrophic de compression, coinsiding with the oxeygen system failuring, just as they switched from malaysian to vietnamese airspace
the crew reacted initionally, but passed out, leaving the stricken plane with 3000 miles worth of fuel on board to carry on flying on autopilot towards the Indian ocean, thus becoming a needle in a haystack

impossible as the black box always sends out a beacon of where it is.....plus the cockpit dudes would have said something like "arrrghh can't breath mayday" on the comms / black box.
As the facts i posted above suggest, it's either a) a cover up b) it truly vanished.
Langoliers?
