I read that pilots site / thread [well some of it] - apparently the flight was not allowed to be sold out, 50 seats could not be sold due to weight restrictions - so what was in the cargo? Was it something valuable? Gold is heavy [sorry speculating].
this is where conspiracy goes off the rails, there's plenty of good fertile material here without makeing things up. i read that it not uncommon in that part of the world to "tanker" fuel, carry far more than is necessary so you dont have to fill up at an airport that fuels expensive (after accounting for cost of carrying). any valuable cargo would shirley be flown by a cargo plane anyway.
im liking the theory that the captain has gone slight rogue, Sunday Mail (i know...) is reporting the pilot supports (more?) a politican who's just been convicted. astranged from his wife so potentially a suicide mission, theory goes he's done this to embaress the current government. (of course this could be the story being enginneerd to cover up the real story that it landed in Diago Garcia and the passengers moved to a high security location in the US to be interogated to find secret technologies they are working on).
