I'm not so sure. If he had learned, we'd have been better deploying a back 5, going full on Chris Hughton bus parking. Trashed the GD, got the expected zero points. It was naieve to try and out play them with a weakened starting 11.

We are safe. A good chance to see how we'd fare if it mattered. Pointless doing a CH. That would be a bit like testing gambling skills by not betting

In the context of the opposition I thought Bernardo was very good kept de Bruyne pretty quiet throughout also a good word for bissouma who again showed no fear (sorry for going against thread)

I agree. Bernardo looked comfortable. And I didn't have any kittens. . . . . He can also head a ball . . .. . . Unlike anyone else these days, even if they are a foot taller

No positives, in 1 game we've potentially ruined the whole season. We're not safe yet, We've been shit the last 3 games, And now lost our goal difference . . . . GP naivety/stupidity whatever . . . De ja vu . . . .

Rubbish, absolute unadulterated rubbish.

Have you seen the goal difference of Bournemouth and Villa? And Bournemouth play who during the week, that’s right Man City.

Are you sure you are actually a Brighton fan.

Bissouma sitting in front of Webster, Dunk and Burn with Lamptey and Bernardo as wing backs. That’s nearly half the team sorted.

Webster was poor tonight , gave the ball away , did not challenge the cross from the corner that resulted in the 2nd goal ,

We'll not know how he really intended to use this game, which in reality was a "free hit" against an exceptional side. The team he put out against our previous "free hit", Liverpool, really rose to the occasion and gave them a bloody good game. Tonight's team in comparison came across as a bunch of shuffling old men. Two completely different performances. But as you say, he could have just parked the bus and kept fingers crossed, in the folorn hope of maybe getting something out of the game, but he'll have learnt nothing about his players. It was disappointing but we move on. I'll hope and expect our last 3 games to be a more dogged search for points.

No we're not.. . And its not the point. Nor would it mark and progress.

40 points.

We've already been done up the asre for single figure goal difference, and 17th isn't the target

I am not inclined to micro-analyse about that game. For me it was like a dangerous drive home from a party 20 years ago when I'd had far too much to drink and if I made it home safely without death or imprisonment intervening that would be a result.

We lost by the same score at home to Bournemouth, toward the end of last season. City aren't Bournemouth

Oooh twiddleeedee . .. . . Shoot one score and 8 negatives in two contests.

I'm not sure what qualifies as a 'fan' these days.

Aside from the stark, grim and harsh reality...

We've all learned loads during the last two games. We tried to go toe to toe and got beaten, (well beaten really vs Liverpool) and then destroyed by a very on song City. Yet, why not? Our GD + was so vast vs Bournemouth it made no sense to just defend and go down 1-0, 2-0... we know we can do that... so lets try to play and see where we sit. Well, we sit where we do 15th-16th best, vs 1st and 2nd the result is an almost scientific certainty, especially with no support/atmosphere and the adrenelin that goes with it.

We weren't totally shit, they are just capable of being that good.

GP will surely have made his mind up re certain players and doubtless we will see a reaction vs the Saints.

Remember, at times like this, what Leicester did to Southampton earlier this season... One piss poor game doesn't define a season, indeed the 8 or so against the top teams don't really either, it's the other 30 that count... and from where I sit we've done okay.
