West Ham are 3 points clear of us half way through the season. You seem supremely confident they will finish 10th or 11th based on watching two matches of theirs. Tell that to Arsenal.

Difference is wages between us and West Ham, and they have a 60k stadium revenue income.
We are a better footballing team to watch.
Do we want to win trophies or be a better footballing team?

And that is a genuine NSC question as we have the ambition, but at some point we have a ceiling on wages, where can’t get to CL or even consistent EL level if we don’t pay wages.
It’s fine having the odd gem like Hinsh, but we can’t rely on that if we want stated ambition of the club that ‘there is no ceiling’.

You say that but Moyes has taken West Ham from a team consistently fighting relegation, into a top 6 side, who won a European trophy and now attracts some very talented and sought after players, they’ve beaten sides like Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U etc. That’s not luck, and it’s definitely not a lack of tactics.

We might not like their style but we don’t have to disrespect them, we are sounding like Man U and Arsenal fans here.

No I think we are a superior side to them. Both our games have been freak results really, we should have won both.

They are an average team, just have good individual players in Bowen, Kudus, Areola and Wanker-Prowse who single handedly get them points. They are dull as shit.

I’m with you. West Ham have outperformed their xG quite a bit to be where they are in the table. It’ll be hard for them to maintain that - you can’t keep relying on individual brilliance. And as we saw tonight, they clearly don’t know what to do when a few of their players are unavailable. They’ll have to get very lucky with injuries and suspensions to maintain where they are.

I agree that Moyes is no tactical genius but above all else, he IS a pragmatist. Arguably THE most pragmatic manager in the league.
He knows that with his 3 best players out, if he set up to take the game to us, there's a good chance his side gets picked apart. So guess what, he kept it compact and backed his defence to do their jobs and they just about did it, with a bit of luck.

This sour grapes bollocks is a bit childish IMO. We weren't good enough to score. No shame in that as another day in this fixture we might score 3, but you can't really argue that on this one occasion from Moyes' point of view, the ends justified the means.

Positives - We finally look like we some depth to our squad. Players that don't often start fit in seamlessly and we play some lovely stuff.

It’s not a Cinderella Story, they’ve spent shed loads. Contrary to their fans eternal slagging off of the owners and Brady, they’ve been generous to managers.

On a fraction of that budget, we beat those clubs too.

West Ham have not had many injuries this season and have had some amazing luck. Their win against spurs was comical. Two freak goals. Bowen has been in a hot run of form.

We have had so many injuries and some pretty rotten luck. I can’t think of many games we have picked up more points that we should have done. We have had some very odd games where didn’t get what we deserved e.g. Chelsea away where inexplicably caicedo not sent off to give Chelsea 9 men, a shank from Alvarez, Burnley deflection top corner etc.

If West Ham had 8-10 out for 2 months then they would be nowhere near the top.

I will be shocked if they finish the season above us and I would be even more shocked if West Ham would not swap teams and managers right now.

We know money is THE main determinant of league placing and success. Lots of statistical works always shows the positive correlation. With outliers of course such as us and Boehly’s Chavs. Villa and West Ham were very average until they opened up the purse strings. Squad costs:

We are over our bad injury hump. Hope to progress on Saturday against Stoke then a wee break before the league starts again. Players come back from injury in dribs and drabs, all the time strengthening the squad again. Run of 10 consecutive league victories put us in contention. We fear no one.
