It was their request not to have the points taken off earlier this season so they'd appear (falsely) more attractive to prospective buyers.

It would be outrageous if they were allowed to take the piss further still by having them retrospectively deducted now, when it's irrelevant.

Although we knew it may happen this is typical of the cronies running thr FA....10 point deduction when you come out of administration, but let's change that at the last minute and make it next season! They are bigger cheats than Drogba. The reason for the ten points is to make sure clubs don't gain an advantage by being in administration....I hardly thinkthat is the case with Pompey.

Why isnt it ? if they were allowed to go bankrupt and start again in the football pyramid then no , but by going into admin they can can still pay players above the odds and shaft the creditors at the same time as trying to keep their deluded fantasy of playing tier 3 football alive .

Bet they wouldn't be clamouring for the points deduction to be applied this season if they were safe and it would relegate them.

Do they still get their last 8 million parachute payment next year? or has that long since gone with administartion settlements / council loan?

Absolutely. They just want to weasel out of the points deduction actually having any effect.

They should be commended for the way they have conducted their affairs, and returned to the Premier League immediately.

Why not go one step further and order all other clubs to pay the 98p in the pound that they shafted from their creditors? If they get away with this it will be a massive kick in the teeth for all those clubs who try to manage within their budgets.

If the Southampton case is anything to go by, they will have the points deduction next season as they are relegated already.

Why don't they go the whole hog and ask for the 10 point deduction to be applied to their 2006-2007 season? one of the rare times when the deduction wouldn't lead to their relegation.

That is the most obvious and logical answer but you must remember that this the FA we are talking about and they usually do FA.

Also do remember that this is Pompey and they do have the best fans in the Country and so are a special case .

And it was only a few years ago they were in 2 FA Cup Finals, winning 1 of them. The FA owe them, somehow.
