Political Debate: Number 2

Strongly disagree - how ON EARTH can you have an immigration ploicy that decides where in the UK you can go/work/live?

Once you're in, you're in. Or is he suggesting you tag all immigrants?

Works in Australia mate. I should add, there is no right or wrong answer with immigration, but Clegg came out best. I like parts of each of their policies to be honest

For someone who started the campaign as PM in waiting, I thought Cameron looked increasingly rattled and marginal. He had obviously been told to play down his anecdotes, as the cabin boy from Plymouth didn't make an appearance. Clegg has lost some of the impact of novelty and the questions on areas where his policies are more controversial, like Trident, inevitably will have turned some against him, but overall was OK. I thought Brown was pretty awful last week and a lot more convincing this. Although his smile stills creeps me out, of the 3 of them, he is the one I would want in an international crisis all-nighter with Merkel,Sarkozy and Putin.

Do you not have Freeview? it was on Sky3 and BBC News (and Sky News, as it happens, is a regular Freeview channel.)

I think it's on BBC2 again in a while.

We do have BBC News but there was a report this afternoon that BBC wasn't showing it - there was a big row about it.

We don't have Freeview, we have Virgin and you have to pay extra for the Sky channels.

And I couldn't tune in on the website as I was downstairs making and eating dinner

it never ceases to amaze me how much Rupert Murdoch seeks to influence this country. Dont get me wrong i know he has backed labour in previous elections. Its nice to see Clegg defying him.

Back from the scene of the debate, it has been quite an amazing day in Bristol Harbourside.

Best scenes, a boat with people dresed in Fox Costumes sailing up and down outside the venue with Boy George singing ' Do You Really Want To Hurt me!'.

Worst scenes, that bloody Sky Helecopter and rush hour gridlock as no one could drive anywhere near the venue.

The pubs and restaurants did a roaring trade and I watched it on the big screen...which was surrall with lots of beer and jeering of all three...

You cam always ignore the YouGov poll. It was the only poll in the last election that consistently had Michael Howard being more popular than Tony Blair.

All of their polls in this election have had the Tories WAY ahead...so much so that it just seems completely unrealistic.

I thought Cameron was off-pace and, actually, weary.

A number of mini-gaffes - "I'm blown away by our armed forces in Afghanistan", the mention, then almost instant retraction, of his views on abortion re the Pope question, and - most confusing of all - the announcement of a policy whereby Great British companies like Marks and Spencer's would pay £6,000 to better insulate our homes to cut our fuel bills?? What the f*** was THAT about??

Lib Dems talking the most sense, in my opinion. Clegg is in front, and rightly so.

I thought Brown had his moments in the first half of the debate but it's clear he's no leader. He talks sense most of the time, it's just the reality of what he's presided over is at odds with his personal views. He made some shocking decisions as Chancellor, he's made a hash of Afghanistan, immigration, so his words now are pretty immaterial.
