Anyone else enjoy reading a bit of poetry from time to time?? Always been partial to a nice bit of prose and came across this particularly moving piece online this evening which I thought NSC would enjoy by a gentleman called Ryan from Cheshire.

Oh Cliff! / Sometimes it must be difficult not to feel as if / You really are a cliff / When fascists keep trying to push you over it! / Are they the lemmings, or are you Cliff? Or ARE you, Cliff?

You use a spoon so elegantly
When cereal you are eating
But please dishwash it proper
Or you're dropped at the "team meeting"

West is BEST
Like scabies
I've got you under my skin
With you, life is like a fairytale...Grimm

Even the great Henry Wadsworth Longfellow couldn't fit the words "totem pole" in his Red Indian-inspired magnus opus "The Song Of Hiawatha", so credit to Giggsy for that.

Who wouldn't send this to the jam in their doughnut?

G is for gorgeous

R is for radiant

E is for extraordinary

V is for vivacious

I is for idolised, by me

L is for legs

L is for legs

E is for everything I've ever wanted

They **** you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were ****ed up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

Quite superb, looking forward to Giggsys guide to Poetry as a stocking filler for Mrs Crodo this Christmas.

That reminds me of that Ottawan hit:

"D.I.S.C.O
D.I.S.C.O
Giggs is DISCO
Giggs is DISCO.
He is D, deceitful
He is I, impossible
He is S, superficial
He is C, crazy, crazy
He is O, oh, oh..."

It's rather interesting that the " Footballing Poet " in question has had a character witness attend court on Friday... said character witness was famous for threatening, bullying and intimidating match officials and indeed the odd player or two.. one received a cut eyebrow at half time.... could this be a bit of an Own Goal ?

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
What Bill meant was, you're a sweaty bint

I used to play out on the left wing.
I like it when you touch my thing.
I makes me hard and wet,
And I love you, like a loyal pet.

Ryan, aged 48 and a half.

It needs a little tidying but I like it.

My favourite Larkin

I have started to say
“A quarter of a century”
Or “thirty years back”
About my own life.

It makes me breathless
It’s like falling and recovering
In huge gesturing loops
Through an empty sky.

All that’s left to happen
Is some deaths (my own included).
Their order, and their manner,
Remain to be learnt
