clearly leeds going down would be amusing but would hardly help our cause in gaining promotion next season, so we want them to stay up, surely

Not necessarily - didn't work that way for QPR, Forest, Sheffield Wednesday etc.afters said:clearly leeds going down would be amusing but would hardly help our cause in gaining promotion next season, so we want them to stay up, surely

The only 'debt' remaining as I type is to the tax man and to ex players/managers on their Ridsdale contracts. Both of those will be settled by the end of June.

I don't know much about these matters but would the conversation have been something like:
Leeds: "We'll offer you 17p in the pound."
Creditors: "No way, we want the full amount."
Leeds: "Well, we'll probably just go bust then, you've read the newspapers we're screwed, it's 17p or nothing."
Creditors (panicking): "Oh, ok well, it's better than nothing, I suppose."
I hope we buold a mega stadium with funding from a PLC attached to us then ditch the PLC and look forward to life without debt and an assault on the Championship and Premiership.
