This, we need a keeper with the ability to catch crosses. Look at Pope today he collected every corner. We need more than a shot stopper.

Ramsdale form 37 PL appearances has 20 high claims, 7 catches. A terrible return of 5 clean sheets. Worse than 1 in 7. https://www.premierleague.com/players/13703/Aaron-Ramsdale/stats

Ryan from 110 PL appearances has 66 high claims, 17 catches. 25 clean sheets so roughly 1 in 4. https://www.premierleague.com/players/12192/Mat-Ryan/stats

Really want that Ramsdale downgrade? Can do better than a now Championship keeper. I’d keep our better premier league keeper.

Deeney? Really??

Most Watford fans on their forum, and those I know personally, have all said he's well past it. He's been awful this season. They don't even want to keep him for the championship as they don't think he's even up to that level.

No thanks.

I get the sentiment here but surely you can't argue that the likes of brooks/buendia wouldn't improve our team

I saw Buendia behaving like a petulant little sh1t when Crawley players were having the temerity to tackle him when Norwich lost at the Broadfield this season. No heart, little fight, no thanks for me

We should take a good look at some of the Watford players, I just think they’ve been mismanaged

Out of the potential signings, I like Brooks and Sarr.

Brooks has had injury problems but looks very consistent when I see him play. A great crosser of the ball both from open play and set pieces, which I think is something we're seriously lacking.

Sarr is still relatively young, and has bundles of pace and a bit of an X factor - would prefer him over Deeney who, although he has experience, even the Watford fans want to move him on now, as his performances have been inconsistent.

Yes Pope is quality, but in fairness he took most of the corners because most of them were shit.

But if we’re in for a striker, just watching MOTD and Giroud really would be the perfect Murray replacement.

He's been playing regularly and scoring for Chelsea.

Without getting too "small club" about this, why do people keep referencing him as an option?
Is he out of contract? Or is it just a fantasy football wishlist thing?

Perhaps but nobody got across him and attacked the ball.

Yeah, sorry I wasn't just referring to the quality of delivery, which at times was undeniably shit.
But the idea of queueing up behind the penalty spot, when the ball is consistently being delivered into the six yard box, needed to be rethought during the game.

It didn't look like it was ever going to work.

Thought he had also signed a new contract with Chelski as well

Absolutely. Could get 2 or 3 decent years out of him. He's not failed to score goals. Gives us a couple of years, to get our academy players in that position up and running

Watford fans want rid of Deeney and can't believe how much he's played this season, he'd be a terrible, backwards signing for any Prem side in 2020.

Agree - the whole ‘love train’ thing hasn’t really worked.

He had a great start to the season, but then seemed to lose his way towards the end, not even making the first eleven. I haven't done a full investigation myself but I heard it remarked on the telly he has a career of blowing hot and cold. Rather like a 'Diet' Mo Salah.

Edit: these are his stats.....for a 30 year old, he looks a bit of a Maupay downgrade....

Anyway, he's a fluffy bearded scandinavian who looks like he's just stepped out of a 1970s German porn mag, so it's 'yes' from me :lolol:

And his name is pronounced the same as Garfield's teddy bear Pooky, so it's a yes from me.

Every corner yeasterday was basically catching practice aimed straight at Pope!

If we sign anyone before next season the club will have been monitoring them since before lockdown, let alone since any serious relegation issues were relevant.

Potterball falls flat on it’s face with corners. Non league stuff, I am stunned at how rigidly shit our corner taking is, absolute rubbish game in game out

We did vary it for once yesterday and scored a goal! Albeit a very messy one with a huge slice of luck in the way Biss got the ball back

Agreed . . . With a Tower of giraffes in the team we really should be capitalising from set pieces.
