Murray for me was the MOM worth 8.5 at least .... Barnes just does not look the same player and now needs a goal ... thought Smith looked ok today ....

I don't hold with giving arbitrary numbers so just comments.

Ankergren - little to do in the first half, but dove in recklessly on one occasion, made some poor decisions in the second half and was fortunate not to concede on a couple of occasions. Well, I say fortunate it was some impressive defending that saved him.

Painter - seemed to take an elbow in the first half and get nothing for it. Made some good runs, played with confidence, though gave up a little easy on one run.

Greer - it started so well, confident, gave our defence a more solid feel, then got sent off. I missed the actual punch (though saw their player shove a couple of times). Disappointing end to his debut.

Elphick - played his part in the late goal, and made a couple of other minor errors, but was mostly solid.

Calderon - impressive display, I thought, made some exciting good runs, good range of accurate passes. Made himself available.

Smith - Made himself difficult to mark, played his part getting an giving, needs to work on his shooting, was a little weak with his two opportunities.

Kishishev - Mostly a really strong performance, intelligent play, getting in the right position and usually choosing the right pass. Got a little slow in the last 5 minutes of the first half, or lingered on the ball too much and got harried too much.

Bennett - Started on the right and played well laying the ball off, making some decent runs, came over to the left and tried to lay it off but it was always to spaces where no one was. Great goal to give us the lead.

Dicker - Another impressive display, made some good runs, passes and getting into place to be available for team mates.

Murray - Great performance, little too cute when barnes put him through wasting a golden opportunity to make it 3-1, but other than that held the ball up well, taking the pressure off the defence a lot in the second half.

Barnes - Played a great supportive role, but didn't stand out to me.

El Abd - fit in well, keeping the defence solid.

Overall - Thought it was a really great performance, great flowing passes, everyone moving around, getting into space, making great passes, generally playing some really entertaining football. A couple of rash moments cost us, but I felt really positive about the performance.

Spot on.

Greer looked very comfortable and a good buy.Shame he ruined it by getting sent off even know i didn't see the incident.

I think 7 for Smith is a bit generous. He went missing from the left side of midfield far too often. The number of times their right winger was able to stroll into our half only to then get challenged by Painter was simply amazing (more in the 1st half).

Err, he wasn't playing left wing. He was playing central in the Sparrow role, with Barnes and Bennett flanking Murray in a 4-5-1.

I'll go with all that except Calderon who looked woeful. He was off the pace today and Rochdale had a lot of joy against him second half.

I thought Greer came close to a couple of howlers in the first half, or did I imagine them as everyone is saying he played really well before the red card

I thought Kishishev was probably our best player today, El Abd had a great game and gets even better, Calderon decidedly looked knackered for the last 10 mins. And why was Harty brought on, got skinned a couple of times. Murray is definitely in need of a permanent partner.Wasnt happy with the result, but can see that there is room for improvement, as there were a lot of good things going on,on the pitch, so lets have more posetive and less destructive critism

Ankergren - 0 - can't really give him higher as he basically cost us the point and had looked dodgy before that
Calderon - 5 - not at the races. Unfit?
Elphick - 7 - bit of a cock-up with the 2nd goal, good otherwise - one IMMENSE bit of skilly that the lino wrongly gave a throw for
Greer - 2 - quiet game, can only assume he was a dickhead for the red card - good to hear some vocel encouragement though
Painter - 7 - looked a bit dodgy in the last 10, but generally was a class act as usual
Bennett - 8 - some good moments, some bad ones, awesome goal though
Dicker - 8 - all over the place, some great passing, amazed he's been scored so lowly
Kishishev - 9 - thoroughly deserved MoM. Creative and defensive, a great game - super fit too for an older man
Smith - 5 - very quiet, and again, lightweight. didn't do much at all
Murray - 8 - yeah, some great link up play and a good goal. Could have done better with a chance late on I suppose, but generally very good.
Barnes - 5 - other than creating the Murray chance, he worked hard but didn't do much.

El-abd - 8 - excellent "cameo" performance at the back

Dont quite get the Kishishev love-in tonight. Thought he had a good game defensively but got caught on the ball far too often, and misplaced a few passes.

Withdean Wanderer, I disagree with your rating for Smith. Thought he gives us something different in that he's great at finding space in between their midfield and back four and is quite direct when he has the ball at his feet. Agree with your rating for Calderon, while most are giving him 7s I thought he was a bit of a liability defensively.

Barnes wise, I just dont think him and Murray can work. Both seem to prefer playing with their back to goal which ends up in us being quite one dimensional up top. We desperately need someone to play on the last shoulder and stretch defenses the other way, which in turn will create more space for Murray to work in.

For what its worth thought Calderon was poor today, offered nothing going forward

...apart from his brilliant run in the second half when he got into an amazing position for a full back, but blasted his shot over the bar.

Really?

Even when players did come onto him he stilll never seemed to lose it. Ditto for Dicker.

Ankergren - 3 I thought he was fairly dodgy all game, not just the woeful error at the end.

Calderon - 4 They got in behind him so many times, and always seemed a bit behind the play when he went forward. Didn't look fully fit.
Elphick - 7 Solid enough
Greer - 5 Again solid, didn't see the red but there doesn't seem to be much argument even if the Rochdale player did go down easily.
Painter - 7 Typical Painter, calm and in control at al times.

Kishishev - 8 Fantastic footballing brain, I hardly recall him giving the ball away, lot's of greta little interceptions and cleve defensive play. Just going by today I'd rate him above Navarro in that position, maybe a slight doubt about his ability to play 90 minutes.
Dicker - 8 Superb, at the heart of nearly everything we did going forward. such a clever passer of the ball.
Smith - 7 The least influential of the midfield three but he did look good, clever. Contributed a lot to our excellent passing game. Just seemed to get the final touch a bit wrong with a couple of through balls and shots that didn't come off.

Bennett - 7 Not his best game but he came into his own when we went down to ten. Not just with the goal, INCREDIBLE as it was. Hopefully he will be having his own goal of the season competition again, he'll have to do a lot to beat that missile though.
Barnes - 5 Got knocked off the ball a lot and struggled to really influence the game from a position where he's not suited.
Murray - 8 This is the Murray we need to see every week, was excellent today. Think if he has a bit more match sharpness he'd have made it 3-1 and won us the game.

When all he had to do was play it across goal where Murray was unmarked. Not at his best today.

Ankergren - 4 - Some bizarre decision making, needless puching and lack of positional awareness
Calderon - 7 - Comfortable on the ball, did well on the overlap at times
Elphick - 7 - Solid
Greer - 4 - Nearly cost us a goal with a sloppy clearance in the first half, nearly cost us the game in the second
Painter - 7 - Blew hot and cold but put in a solid shift against a tricky opponent
Bennett - 7 - Great goal, quiet at times
Kish - 7 - Great at the simple things, lovely to see such a calm head. Faded
Dicker -7 - Good to have him back
Smith - 6 - Looks like a good prospect. One to watch
Barnes - 6 - Fantastic pass to Murray in the last 5 minutes. Didn't look much of a goal threat
Murray - 8 - At his best today. Really looked like he wanted it

Subs:
El-Abd - 7 - We looked more solid at the back with him on.

Agree but not sure if this type of football will be sustainable through the winter. Let's hope it is.

Ankergren - 3 - Even without the howler at the end he was poor. I thought his distribution was slow at times, looked like he lacked confidence, and tied to punch the ball far too many times when a catch would have been the better option.
Calderon - 5 - Wasnt his usual self today, Possible lack of match fitness?
Elphick - 8 - Didnt put a foot wrong in my opinion. 2nd Goal is not his fault in the slightest.
Greer - 5 - Didnt look too bad untill the sending off. Cost us the game unfortunately.
Painter - 9 - Was a class above today. I think I saw him cock up once the whole game, had the winger in his back pocket the whole game, shoulda had a peno, MOTM by far.
Bennett - 8 - Great goal, and brilliant delivery for the 1st too. Apart from that though, pretty quiet.
Dicker - 7 - Solid display. Linked well with Kish and Smith in the middle of the park.
Kishishev - 8 - Had a good game today pulling the strings in midfield and played the navarro role brilliantly. his general awareness and slowness let him down at times getting disposessed.
Smith - 7 - Played pretty much off the top 2 first half, I woulda liked for him to have seen more of the ball because he has serious talent, unfortunately it didnt all come off today.
Murray - 7 - Average? His goal, people seem to forget that he actually hit the bar from like 5 yards out and got lucky to get a second bite of the cherry! Shoulda scored late on when one-on-one. And miscontrolled the ball many many times during the game. Played pretty well late on when down to 10 men, used his body well.
Barnes - 7 - I thought he played pretty well, battled well and only had one half chance from a bennet freekick that went narrowly wide.
