Not a fair comparison

A keeper is the one position where they can’t make any mistakes and if they do, it costs their team massively. Their job is to protect the goal without error.

A midfielder can make lots of mistakes in a game and yet still end up being the best player on the pitch

…….but if Mac Allister had taken one of at least three very good chances we’d have won.

Ah, ok, you want one player on the pitch to be perfect. Fair enough - but unattainable IMO.

Sorry, the pile-on on Sanchez (not just on here) because of a single mistake is pathetic IMO when a single goal given our outfield play points to several others not being at the top of their game (or also making mistakes). Glad those of us there were mostly singing his name at the end and RDZ sought him out with a comforting arm.

I’m out until people realise we’ve got a pretty decent keeper, with no chance of an upgrade any time soon and that laying into him from the safety of their keyboards isn’t a good look.

I wasn’t criticising Sanchez . I was critical of you comparing Mac’s “2 big mistakes” with Sanchez’s 1 mistake.

I’m surprised Mac’s missed chances today are even being described as mistakes. He missed 2 chances. He didn’t pass the ball back to the opposition which lead to them scoring. That’s what I would describe in football terms as an outfield mistake.
One of Mac’s “mistakes” would’ve been technically very difficult to score from as the cross was very flat and straight, going directly at him with pace. The other one was on his weaker foot, brilliant pass from March, and yes he should’ve done much better but yet, to call that a mistake not hitting a shot sweetly, just doesn’t seem fair football punditry to me.

‘Think you’re being harsh on Sanchez.
Easily a 2’

Sounds pretty critical to me.

March was great - but for overall impact over the whole game I think I would go for Estupinian as MoM. He was everywhere, and don't remember him putting a foot wrong.
Estupinian was brilliant. His crossing caused so many dangers for palace every time. But he did make a really costly mistake in the first half that lead to Palace almost scoring but for a brilliant last ditch block from Webster.

If the MacAllister challenge in the 6th minute had been perpetrated by a Palace player, we'd all be talking about how he wasn't sent off.

Horrendous challenge and he should have walked.

What score would he have got then, a 7?

That wasn’t a red card offence his foot clearly bounces off the ball.

I thought he was lively in the first half?
I've got no idea what he did in the first half - I was in the Arthur Waite

Anyone got a clip of the challenge, heard it's not great but didn't pick up on it at the time.

It's on the extended highlights on the club site.

Studs up, but no real force, pulls away immediately after contact

Some Palace fan on twitter described it as a leg breaker.
It isn't.

Thanks, just seen it not great, could have been a red and if it had couldn't complain too much. Probably between a yellow and a red.

Apart from last 5 mins against Bournmouth that is 2 games running Mitoma has been marked out of game
You expect that for brilliant wide players, doubling up, it’s always been the way.

Savvy teams then exploit the lack of opponents numbers elsewhere. They cannot cover everyone.
