We were very poor and lacked guts and a will to win. Nobody deserved more than a 5 in my opinion.

exactly, dull, dull game.If we're serious about going up next season we're going to have to learn how to break down a packed defence.

How the f*** can you call that a dull game?!! We murdered them for most of it and were only really let down by the final ball and a lack of luck. We could and should have tonked them by five or six.

Some of the people on here are beginning to sound like Chelsea fans!

Lacked the will to win?! Right, that's why we beseiged their goal, got a thoroughly deserved equaliser and then went straight for the winner! FFS!

Thought the boys battled excellently yesterday; they desperately wanted a win.

It's you that is in the minority, we never looked like scoring.

I don't think he is actually. There have been a fair number of positive comments on here and I do agree with him. The only thing I would say is it shows how much we miss Murray when he is not playing as with him in the side I think we would have hammered them. However, yesterday was far from as depressing as you seem to be saying. If you compare it to some of the home games we lost to Oldham, Stockport and others under Slade then it was a lot better.

Also, 12 shots on target and numerous crosses into their box when the ball would not quite drop for us tends to disagree with you. I honestly think if we can keep the players we have signed until the end of the season and on loan, then we are a quality strike partner for Murray and a couple of players to add competition away from a top six team.

Hendrie - 7 - Will be quality at this level if he can get match fit. Hope we sign him for next season. Quality ball for the goal. Needs to pull strings a bit, as felt he should have taken the freekick in approximately the same place as their goal. Perfect place for a left footer, whether he's a freekick specialist or not.

Errr, he's right-footed.

I too certainly think he would've made a real difference yesterday, but unfortunately all those dumb yellow cards he accrued robbed the side of his valuable presence innit. :annoyed:

I'm in the whole 5 is the average mark camp. Which I feel more people should be.

Why? My average mark is the average mark for the team, today as a whole they were a 7, so 7 is the average mark and this varies weekly, with the same average mark everytime, you can't tell the difference between them as overall, it will always work out as a 5, assuming your doing it correctly.

How the hell was yesterday a 7/10 performance as a whole?!

Yesterday, incase you didn't notice we completely dominated the match for 90minutes, but failed to take our chances, conceded a good free kick and a mistake from our keeper. We dominated the game, thus it is a 7/10, I am not a believer n knocking 2 off of everyone just because we lost.

Samhale, it's basic maths. if your average every game is a 5, theres no difference match to match and you just comparing how the players played relative to each other, with a moving average you can compare overall team performances week to week. You can't compare an average of 5 with an average of 5, but can compare a 6 and then a 7.

Call me an old fashioned pedant, but I don't know how anybody can rate the performance of every individual player over 90 minutes. Maybe some folk have 11 pairs of eyes? ???

What?

If you change whatever is "average" per game, you can't compare performance by game.

If you say 5 is the mark for an 'average' performance. Then a 6 versus Carlisle is a performance equal to a 6 versus Southampton.

If you change the average every game then a 5 in one game could equate to a 8 in another game. Where is the sense in that? How can you keep track of how good performances for an individual are if the ratings definition changes each week?

An average performance should always earn the same mark. A great performance should always earn the same mark. A poor performance should earn the same mark.

The mean (and mode) average of each game will change, of course. A better performance overall will lead to everyone getting better marks because a better performance overall is a result of better indivdual performances), so the team average (mean/mode) will go up.

Agreed. You can't really appreciate, say, the movement of Dicker to create space if you're busy watching LuaLua drible down the wing, etc.
