After that shower...

Kuipers - 8 - superb save gave us a point, shame he is shit with penalties, but hey ho.
Whing - 6 - average distribution
Elphick - 6 - solid, but gave away too many free kicks
Hawkins - 6 - very quiet, turned easily at times
Livermore - 6 - needs to cross a ball, looked generally decent though I suppose
Richards - 7 - our best attacking player
Cox - 4 - lots of effort, but totally ineffective. Every cross charged down.
Thomson - 4 - game went straight past him, too much hoofing.
Virgo - 5 - again, game went past him. I think we can only afford one of Hawkins and Elphick if we want to see the middle players on the ball. Looked slightly more useful up front
Hart - 5 - As you'd expect really. Did his best, but will he score goals in this league - probably not. Would rather see him on the right.
Forster - 5 - lots of moaning, no tracking back, and squandered the best effort of the game. Good penalty though.

Fraser - 4 - joke subsitution, no surprise to see our midfield overrun as soon as he was on.
Lynch - tactical cock up that one, bring on a defender and we concede. Genius

New manager, same old crap. Not really going to bring the fans back if we play like that. I hope that's just an early blip, but sadly I doubt it. Without McLeod, our attacking midfield is embarassing.:nono:

You'd think we lost 3-0 with ratings like that. Today wasn't that bad - granted the type of game we really should win but slip-ups happen.

id say that 80% of our team out there today were average, would in theory should constitute a 5 rating. or a 6 if you are going on championship manager

Kuipers - 8 - Didn't have a great deal to do for most of the game. But made a few saves in the second half. One of which was WORLD CLASS

Whing - 5 - Not his best today, gave away possession dangerously a few times.

Elphick - 6 - Distribution was very poor, otherwise OK.

Hawkins - 6 - Solid in the air but gave away the pen.

Livermore - 5 - Richards looks much better in this position

Richards - 6 - Looked out of position, much prefer him at LB

Cox - 5 - Can't beat his man!

Thomson - 6 - Didn't even notice him really! Got stuck in a few times early on.

Virgo - 5 - Quiet today, and even when moved upfront didn't have any impact.

Hart - 4 - A yard or two off the pace for the entire game. Not good enough to play upfront at this level anymore!

Forster - 6 - Not a shocker, but then not at his best either

Fraser - 5 - Didn't really make an impact on the game, but at least he tried to get the ball on the deck! Which is more than can be said for most of the starting 11!

Harty ( the player) said on the phone in that it was always going to be a game like that..two teams in each others faces? Is that a fair summary?

Kuipers - 8 - for that save. Don't think he'll ever save a pen
Whing - 6 - Wasn't the worst
Hawkins n Elphick - 5 - Struggled at times to cope with their big forwards, especially as the ref wasn't giving free kicks to us at all
Livermore - 6 - Wasn't the worst either but would be better CM
Cox - 2 - Awful
Richards - 6 - Can't play LM, he kept going miles inside and there was no one out wide
Thomson - 6 - Average
Virgo - 5 - gave the ball away a bit too easily
Forster - 5 - bit static
Hart - 6 - The effort was there, often he was flicking it on to no one though which isn't really his fault
Think MA just got it wrong with the team today, even though we started brightly

its a fair summary of what the game was. they were well organised defensively, and obviously coming for a point. we werent able to break them down in the first half, then in the second they pushed on and probably deserved all three points

the majority of teams are going to come and deploy those tactics this year at withdean, and to be honest we just dont look capable of being able to break them down and turn one point into three. judging by today, we could be placing rather too much reliance of kevin mcleod to be the catalyst if we are to reach the play offs

Pretty much 5 all round apart from Kuipers who can have what he wants after that save, and Cox he must have been on the drink last night or something rubbish performance. Hopefully get a kick up the arse after it

Still early days yet. Listened to the commentary via SW and thought that we were getting well battered in the 2nd half and barely heading towards a win. Looking at the table with 2 games gone we are 4th with a chance to go top on Friday night. The representatives from Southend watching us today will feedback a report that might be misleading , especially when Muzza and Fozzy link up again.

With 6 = average.

Kuipers - 8 - didn't put a foot wrong and made one outstanding save.

Whing - 7 - thought he looked the best of our defenders today.

Elphick - 6 - just did his job, nothing special.

Hawkins - 6 - see above

Livermore - 6 - looked fairly solid at LB but wish he could of linked up with Richards more.

Richards - 5 - looked out of place in midfield. Gave us no width or invention. Prefer him at LB.

Cox - 5 - plenty of work rate ( esp, compared to Tuesday ) but no final product.

Thomson - 6 - average

Virgo - 5 - pretty anonymous today and no better when moved upfront.

Hart - 5- a couple of half decent flick ons early doors, then nothing but clumsy hustling.

Forster - 6- worked hard enough but zero service.

subs:

Fraser - 4 - contributed nothing when he came on.
Lynch - 6 - done ok in the little time he had at LB.

Well,we weren't that good today, though even from where I sat I could see the ref wanted to level out the penalty count.Theirs was never a pen,was it?

It's disappointing to lose two home points AND get knocked out of two cups so early in the season.

Should we get that nice Mr Wilkins back now?

I got a good view of both pens from the family stand. To be honest, both were dodgy. I totally agree ref was looking to even things up. He had a shocker. Why the :censored: don't refs just let the game flow ? Whistle happy refs seem to be in the majority

A fair result today would probably be 0-0 though. Both teams created bugger all.

Kuipers - 8 - Probably MOM for that one save alone as it was the only class thing any Albion player did all afternoon.

Whing -6 - OK but caught in possession a couple of times.
Elphick - 6 - He will only become a quality defender when he learns not to hoof it upfield every time he wins the ball.
Hawkins - 6 - Looks a bit of an unremarkable steady Eddie sort of player.
Livermore - 5 - Not sure why he and Richards were switched but it didn't work particularly well.

Cox - 4 - Not sure he did anything right today. Maybe he is better on the left where he has to cutback to deliver a cross. The problem on the right is that he has no pace to beat a defender.
Virgo - 5 - Not convinced he's a midfielder.
Thomson - 5 - Anonymous
Richards - 5 - looked reasonably lively in the opening few minutes.

Forster - 6 - No service. Cool penalty but bad miss when one on one with the keeper early on.
Hart - 5 - A legend and one of my Albion heroes but I thought he was past it a couple of seasons ago and I still believe that to be the case. Kicking people does not require much ability.

First competitive game I've seen this season but didn't look much different to last year. If we are to make the play offs we will need to beat teams like Bristol Rovers at home.

Apart from Rovers hitting the bar and the post.
