Ankergren - 6 - 2 goals conceded, and I don't ever remember him making a save.

Calde - 7 - Rampaging forward as usual, another good game.
Dunk - 7 - Not as good as he was against Cardiff, but still solid enough.
Greer - 7 - Solid as usual.
Painter - 7 - Same as Calderon.

Vincelot - 7 - More and more impressed with this guy, not even playing in his natural position.
Dicker - 6 - Remember him losing the ball a few times, which is a recurring theme.
Bridcutt - 8 - Keeps getting better IMO. Guards the back 4 brilliantly, and passing is spot on too.
Noone - 9 - Has deserved his starting spot, with a brilliant cross for CMS and corner for Barnes.

Barnes - 7 - Took his chance well, but didn't do much else.
CMS - 9 - MOM. A lovely header for the goal, and work rate is just unparalleled. Brilliant.

Lua Lua - 8 - 2 peaches of crosses that should have been buried, great cameo.
Navarro - N/A - Didn't get long enough.

Sorry but Painter was awful today and calderon was superb (apart from that header).I am really beginning to wonder if Painter struggles on our big pitch.

As above but .mark

Ankergren down ... pissing around with the ball too many times, could've cost us

Greet and Cald ... mark up solid as rocks .. Cald some neat touches going forward and always looked in total control

Barnes ... better than 7 imo ... worked hard took his chance well

KLL .. couple of decent crosses but never really ran at it .. he's a game or two away I think

Ankergren 6 - flapped a bit at the the cross that led to the corner for their second goal. Otherwise steady, as usual.

Calderon 8 - up and down and a couple of great blocks. Back to his best.
Painter 7 - unclear on why he is being criticised, again a steady influence.
Greer 6 - Must be disappointed that Phillips got between him and Dunky twice.
Dunk 6 - As above.

Vinncelot - 7 - fantastic first half, slightly quieter in the second.
Dicker - 6 - As Vincelot, good first half, was a bit sloppy in the second and visibly tired.
Noone - 9 - Oustanding
Bridcutt - 8 - just a great player. Provides such good cover.

Barnes - 8 - felt he led the line well.
Mackail-Smith - 8 - Pure athlete, great header for the goal.

Navarro - 6 - Didn't do a lot.
Lua-Lua - 6 - Yes, he is fantastic going forward - plus 2 great crosses, but defensively we looked much weaker with him on the pitch. Just wonder if he should have provided more of an outlet for us towards the end.

For me we started to defend too deep towards the end. Mackail-Smith received the ball a number of times, but seemingly had little option open to him. See above I was disappointed that Kaz didn't make himself more available when we had the ball. Sometimes its the work you do off the ball as well as on it. Still delighted with the start and it was a great game - roll on Tuesday.

Crowd - 10 - Great effort - I just love the Amex.

Ref - 6 - How could he miss the shove on Ashley?

Painter? really? - How many times did their player get past him or get a cross in? - the truth is hardly ever, his lack of pace isn't noticable as he is brilliant at getting in the right position to make it as hard as possible for the attacking opponent, he's solid, reliable and it looks gain doesn't appear to get the recognition his performances deserve

I rate Painter but i thought he was poor today and so did most of the people around me.

Care to explain that comment? the only keeper that looked like he would get caught in possession and had his clearances blocked was the ex-premier league keeper Gilks

I disagree, the game only changed when they brought on 3 attacking subs and tried to throw everything at us in an effort to get something from the match, i thought the defence as a whole did very well despite their conceeding twice and it took 2 excellent finishes just inside the post by player who has played the vast majority of his career in the premier league and is a former England striker, Kevin Phillips to get them something from the game for a team that was playing the likes of Man utd, Arsenal, Liverpool Spurs etc last season.

I thought the whole team were excellent today

Another thread with people moaning about Dicker. He may not be consistent but he was definitely not the worst midfielder today. No one seems to mentipn Bridcutt lost the ball 3 times in the space of 2mins in the second half. Some people are far too critical of him when in the first half he was absolutely superb. I don't know what game some people are watching sometimes.

Who was the worst midfielder today then? Bridcutt ( yes he did lose the ball but put a far better shift in) was a class above Dicker. When Harley arrives Dicker/Sparrow will be competing for the subs bench.

Sad ever to give up a two goal advantage.

Ankergren - well personally I have serious concerns about him.

It's difficult to make some of these observations, especially that to the point of Greer and Dunk covering KP because none of us knows what was said to the team in terms of containing him (KP). It certainly was disappointing of that there is no doubt.

Painter will, sadly, prove not quite up to it so I don't agree that he was equal to Greer and Dunk (who despite doing a great defending job, needs to discipline himself to reduce silly fouls and yellows.

I think that CMS is above all others, 'brilliant' and capped that today with a fine goal today.

Barnesy is putting in a lot more effort than he ever did before and 4 goals this season so far ? I am more impressed.

Kaz did not merit an 8 in his 30 minutes where, apart from a couple of decent crosses and one which should have bulged the opposition net, he was not his usual self.

Personally, I think that unfortunately, we don't start to defend until the opposition is knocking on our penalty area rather than addressing the situation earlier. The likeliehood of the opposition scoring (especially with the likes of KP on) is so much greater if we allow them to come right into our 'backyard' .

All of these posts / replies are of course personal opinion !

I don't think anyone had a bad game. Vincelot went missing at times. Bridcutt is amazing at what he does but is not very creative. Noone was very good on the wing. Dicker was very creative and split their midfield with great passes. All gave the ball away a few times. I think Dicker gets fouled a lot but doesn't like to go down and therefore loses out on the ball when he could win a free kick.

Just a view but the short balls out (mostly) to Dunk and Painter had me holding my breath a few times ... seemed strangely risky and if anyone had thought of copying CMS we could've been punished

Playing the ball out from the back is our style of play, has been for two years. It won't change any time soon.

I thought it was a really good game. We struggled against their high line, which limited our space to play tippy tappy. The equaliser was disappointing, but probably deserved on the balance of play, although if the penalty had been given for the foul on barnes it would have been a red card and game over. I disagree with some of the comments abOut our midfield today.it looked good when we were in possession but I don't think we were competitive enough. We have plenty of flair once everyone is fit but we lacked an option off the bench for someone else to sit alongside bridcutt and go and get the ball to then give it to the flair. Nav's is a passed rather than a ball winner. Overall, six for Casper, paints, dicker and vincelot, sevens for Greer, dunk, barnes, lua lua, eights for noone, Cms, Calderon and bridcutt. Very enjoyable game.

I usually rate Dicker, but I thought he really was the worst midfielder today. He was off the pace, slow in the tackle and gave the ball away too easily (too often). Noone and Bridcutt were fantastic, and CMS ran his socks off. We were very unlucky not to get a third and kill the game off.

At 2 nil up I thought the team played far too deep, inviting the opposition forward.

Anyway, I am sure we'll stuff Peterborough next week !
