Renegotiating taking longer than expected? I would assume we tried to make the first deadline, but it can't be easy sorting out all the players, renegotiating, talking with agents etc.

I agree, we are a lot slower than other clubs, which gives the players released less chance and also snapping up other players.

Imagine what it's doing to the players...
Imagine what announcing a decision to sack you would feel like, if you hadn't even had a conversation with your boss before you found out.

The Club is handling this very responsibly. Fans are NOT entitled to be the first to hear.

Then why make deadlines he cannot stick to?... As someone once said to me 'he loves the sound of his own voice'.

I have no problem with being last to hear, of course the players should hear first and I don't think anyone is advocating otherwise. What I want is this all cleared up last week so we can sign some new players instead of watching them go elsewhere... again.

I agree with that, what betting there has to be yet ANOTHER meeting to talk about player funds, This will of course over run and only gash players will be left.

Although obviously the players should be told and the club has to handle this sensibly, which i do not disagree with and i'm sure all these things take time and isn't easy.

I do agree with Trigger on this one, no-one made DK give himself these deadlines, wednesday and now today, he would have been better off saying nothing.

The failure to meet his self-imposed deadlines is what is frustrating, because it reflects badly on the club.

If a decision has been taken to drop an individual from the squad, I guess that the search for a replacement will have started ahead of the announcement.

I'd even guess that the decision to retain McGhee was taken after a few enquiries were made as to the likely availability of a decent alternative (and the discovery that the answer was "NO")

I think people are under estimating how long it takes to negotiate new deals with, potentially, 9 players.

We will need another meeting to work out how much we have after all the players deals have been finalised, so we know what we need and what we have to spend.

It can be done if you pull your finger out and work your nuts off. 9 employees is nothing, and probably at least 3 of those will be a simple au revoir sunshine. Of the rest, surely the groundwork was done as soon as we were certainties for the drop? If not then why not?
Sorry to be a moaning bastard but this is just poor management and completely lacking in urgency. We will not bounce back if we are not well prepared, and the longer this goes on, the lower our final league position will be.

I think the main gripe is the fact that DK sets deadlines and then fails to meet them.

Depends if there are 9 agents sticking their nose in.

The Club may have well offered 9 contracts, but that doesnt mean that the players will automatically sign them.

Players like Nicolas ermm and Nicolas have a few years left in them so may well be considering options. McPhee possibly does as well, but probably not at the Albion.

Yes, Fair enough. I just think that they are not intentionally dragging this on and missing the deadline, a little bit of goodwill is needed on our parts if things are delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. It may have already been decided as we type, but they won't rush off to Premium TV or whatever to let us know.

This is what i find quite strange, in previous years we haven't waited for all the contracts to be agreed. We have said, we have offered new contracts to x y and z and have released the rest ?

If we are waiting for all the players who have been offered contracts to agree them before we announce whats happening we could be waiting weeks, as players might have a look around for other offers before committing to us

I think that if players/agents can't be contacted, or if the deals are not acceptable to the players/agents then cheerio boys. How long does that take? We are not talking Thierry Henry here.
