Alot of sensible debate follows the SCR phone on this board so I wondered after last night's phone in whether somone here could shed light/comment on Ian's plan B that he implied was in place?

It think Harty is wrong on this and there is one plan Falmer. To suggest DK and MP have some sort of plan b tucked up their sleeve is misleading and plays into the hands of the Falmer nimby's imho.

No I am in the London area so can't pick up SCR. I was only being silly anyhow, or was it optimistic? I'll shut up now and go to lie in a darkened room.:D

I missed the phone in last night, but if this is talking about a plan b incase Falmer is not given the green light, then even if it does exisit then I am sure that DK would not want it to be public knowledge just before the Inquiry to see if there is another Site (or plan) to falmer.

I am unsure as to wether there is a plan B and to be honest, i don't think we will ever know until the decision about Falmer is announced.

If there is a Plan B are people on here really nieve enough to think that the board will come out and say " Oh by the way plan B is Burgess Hill/Newhaven/ King Alfred Site/Isle of White"?

If there was a plan B, any release of its whereabouts would play 100% in the hands of the opponents of Falmer.

I am sure that I have heard DK saying many times before that there is no other site. Since the FA have said we have to stay in Brighton, I do not see how there can be a Plan B.

I would imagine plan B invovles the club moving out of Brighton. I reckon Burgess Hill or Hickstead:(

Total worst case re next years public enquiry ( when we get the result in about Jan 2006 ! ) would be that the inspector recommends that there are NO sites suitable for a 22,000 seater stadium in the Brighton area when following national planning guidelines - and then Prescott or whoever in government at the time endorses this decision.

Only options then would be to expand Withdean to 9,000 - does not seem too likely as we have been trying to do this for the last two years and keep getting blocked by residents and park and ride issues - or apply to Football League for special dispensation to move the club to a site as close to Brighton as possible - such as edge of Burgess Hill by A23 etc.

Any other plan B would be second guessing which other site instead of Falmer the public enquiry and secretary of state recommend we apply for a stadium at assuming Falmer is deemed not to be the most appropriate site for a 22,000 seat stadium in the Brighton area - this would be a very dangeous game and rather pointless to me until we know the governments decision re the next stage of the public enquiry.

Seeing as the last enquiry closed in Oct 03 and we got the result in about Jul 04 I would assume if the next one closes in Mar 05 then we may not get the next decision from the government until late 05 or early 06 - although I would hope I am very wrong on this

I believe that Mike Bamber, who I consider to be Brighton best ever Chairman, wanted to build a 40,000 all seater stadium at Hickstead and share with Palace.

I hope that if there is a plan B it is not advertised publicly and that plan A gets the go ahaead very soon.

How would a February election affect the inquiry?
