Can we take a reality test please. The Prime Minister and Cabinet are running the country, trying to keep us all as safe as possible in impossible circumstances.

Is it not right that they use any mechanism at their disposal to stay doing that job properly. Unless of course you vote Labour when it becomes another opportunity to undermine the situation.

The government have done a pretty good job at undermining themselves so they certainly don’t need Labour voters to do that.

I spent over 12 months helping run my company - from home. Has Video Conferencing not reached Central Government yet? Self isolating doesn't mean being locked in a padded cell. Can the country not be run if the PM doesn't don a white hat and pretend to make a cake or car?

Couple of minor points ... they WILL be self isolating apart from essential government business and the pilot scheme already covers numerous public/private sector organisations.

It's 20 organisations (not sure if that qualifies as "numerous"). And I'm glad that they WILL be self-isolating....apart from going to work!! Could everyone else please have the same scheme? I think we'd all be able to produce a nice little definition of what qualifies as essential for our work.

Would be a FAR better look if senior government ministers excluded themselves from this mysterious pilot programme that seemingly liberates them from the inconvenience the rest of us are expected to suck up. No wonder compliance is going down the shitter. Cant be arsed to find a decent definition of ‘leadership’ but generally expecting others to do something you’re not prepared to do yourself doesn’t normally feature.

Well bollocks to it all. Should I get pinged I shall now be enrolling myself on this mysterious but highly convenient ‘pilot’ study.

Which they created this weekend as it became obvious they would have to isolate. TfL is one of the organisations and yet only yesterday a tube line had to close due to people isolating. It's another disgraceful move that will lead to many people not isolating.

I isolated for 10 days recently. There is no chance I will do it again now. I'll test myself daily, but I won't be isolating again

Yes!! Definitely having a rant! If the Government advises you to self-isolate, you SHOULD self-isolate. Even more so (with bells on) if you are the leader of that Government. ESPECIALLY at a point in time when the number of infections and hospitalisations is rising so quickly. I could go on (and on), but I'm getting to the point where I simply can't be arsed to waste my time riling against people (mainly Tory politicians) who obviously have zero regard for the health of the nation. It is unbelievably depressing.

A ping is meaningless in this case as they have been in contact with a positive case, which means they’ll get a call from track and trace, which is a legal requirement to isolate. So it’s a case of smoke and mirrors.

From my understanding they weren't pinged, they were contacted by Test & Trace, which means self isolation is a legal requirement.
