People have used cool that way since the 30s so it's not surprising if middle-aged people use it today. In fact, back in the 19th century, people were using the term "cool fish" to describe someone sophisticated and worldly. Chill out appeared in the Sugar Hill Gang's Rapper's Delight in the 70s. Take a chill pill popped up in the early 80s.
Young people no doubt have their own versions now, but "cool" and "chill" are old people worlds, bro
The expression "bad boys", except when used (in the correct context) to describe misbehaving, naughty or miscreant male youths.
