I'm finding it hard to view the images - although it is possible to see the first one by clicking the text link.

Could you upload them onto NSC rather than imageshack? When you create a new post, click 'Go Advanced' and there will be an option to upload images...

Thank you for your perseverence. That's a beaut of a shirt!

Ok, this is really cheeky to ask, could you do another shot of the front without the shadow?

Probably the last time cotton shirts were worn by a team in the FA Cup Final. I wonder why they didn't go with polyester.

Nothing to do with the shirt but have coincidentally been reading up on some old breweries recently.

Tamplin & Sons was founded in Brighton in 1821 in the Phoenix Brewery. The company was acquired by Watney Mann in 1953 and eventually closed in 1973. Watney then concentrated their southern operations at the brewery (known as Watneys Southern Ltd) before renaming it as the Phoenix Brewery Co Ltd in 1982.

The 1st football kit I was bought was the phoenix breweries kit and i wore it proudly in p.e at school in 84 or 85. Looking at the photo above I couldn't remember the one off kit, i dont remember the pinstripes. I thought it was the regular British Caledonian kit. I remember like it was yesterday watching cup final build up which started in the morning with sandy toksvig in "number 73" Wish I could go back, happy times.

Same here ! I remember some nob-head man u fan taking great delight in pointing out that it said "1983 FA Cup Finalists" under the badge, and not "winners".

British caledonian were the shirt sponsors but such sponsorship was not allowed on televised games, such as the cup final.

Albion had a special shirt for the final and carried on wearing that in 83/84, when the sponsors were Pheonix. so, the actual cup final shirt should not have a sponsor.

Thank you for that. I didn't know that. So what replaced the large Tamplin's Ales advert on top of one of the stands after 1973? I know it was Townsend Thorosen at one point but that was later on...
