If people critisise the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award for often (not this year) giving the big prize to a sportsman with no personality,

Phil The Power Taylor is the complete opposite, great bloke, big personality, but simply not a sportsman.

Whether you think he is a sportsman or not is irrelevant , Darts is a sport and that makes him a sportsman, nothing we can do about that .

Why should wiggins get a knighthood and Taylor not get one?

So golf is not a sport ?
A grey area. Perhaps sports make you breathless and games don't? (breathless through significant physical exertion whilst in reasonable physical shape, not from years of alcoholism and cigarette smoking as in the case of most darts players)

Not sure I'd even go as far as awarding darts pub game status. That should strictly be for "spoof" or "matchbox spinning". On reflection it's probably a pastime, a bit like gaming on the X-box or wanking, but less enjoyable.

As revealed on the Sir Bradley Wiggins thread ... he was given an MBE and then it was taken off him, after his incident in a caravan.

Darts requires hand eye co-ordination, a lot of skill, steady hand and a lot of nerve under pressure, at the highest level and even at pub level. It's as much as a sport as archery or snooker or shooting.
