Quality beats quantity any time.

Your making no sense !! You put Bobby forward because he won a world title playing quality ! Phil wins a world title playing quality not once but 15 times he also relies on no one else to help him ......

History will forget Phil Taylor a long, long time before it will forget Bobby Moore.

46 years down the line and people still care more about the one World Cup that Bobby Moore lifted than any of Phil Taylor's 15 titles.

Says it all.

OK then, if you're not willing to accept Bobby Moore, what do you make of these three words: Sir Steve Redgrave?

At last a decent argument and contender , the only thing that edges it towards Taylor is that Redgrave relies on someone else and without someone else he is nothing , also Taylor had to peak in his form once every year not every 4 years .

Redgrave is a legend thou no doubt

Athlete, not 'sportsman'

I would go for 'The Marquis Of Queensbury' ....... but he was Scottish

You'd probably be best to judge a sporting achievement on the level of competition from around the world the person faced.

Darts is predominantly a UK based sport in popularity and participation.

If 90% of your competition comes from fat guys from the UK you can safely safe the sport is a pretty insular one.

Chris Cataway ..... he could have been the first to break 4 minutes but ran as a pacemaker for Bannister. That's sportsmanly. Even though he did end up being a Tory MP.
