JUST got back from a top weekend away day in Peterboro, god I love that place!

Reasons to be cheerful:

1 - not stupid AMS so loads of part/time fans (including 5 mates of mine) could get to watch the Albion away for a change

2 - top game, most enjoyable away day (didn't do Rushden) for a long time, great support, songs, etc, etc. Got quite worked up taunting their "lads", f**kin pikies!!!!!

3 - going on a massive sess after the game (well b4 game as well if I'm honest!) in various pubs and ending up in one of Peterboro's "top" nite clubs

4 - getting a free taxi ride home (from Peterboro to Huntingdon where we were staying)....jumped into a Hackney cab outside the club that then procedded to literally catch on fire half way down the A1M ten minutes later!! Seriously!! We left the hapless cabbie with his burnt out cab and were rescued by a good samaritan!!

5 - having my faith restored in the Albion after the Brentford/Bournemouth debacles

Thoughts from an armchair Brighton Fan.:

Let me confess this is the first game I've been to for a couple of years. The wonders of NSC and the internet have made me realise that I am not the only Scottish based Brighton Fan having been invited to join the BHAlba by Fatbadger.

I thought the turnout by the fans was excellent. Enjoyed the Burberry taunts. The Posh support was pathetic. Cardboard cutouts reminiscent of Dundee Utd fans up here. As for the team, I'm no expert but it is pretty clear to me that Leon is a class above the rest of them. I thought McPhee came on to a game 2nd half. I was very disappointed in the midfield. I accept thet Pethick is not a midfielder. I hope he never plays in that position again. The defence looked soft-centred. Watson in particular seemed to be a very soft touch. I thought Kuipers & Watson were to blame for the first goal.

Having said all that whilst the first half was dreadful, I thought we played much better in the 2nd half although we were holding out a bit before the end. Says something for the new manager.

I would also have to say that Peterborough looked a reasonable side to me. There did not seem to be 20 - odd places between the teams. I thought their no 10 MacKenzie was good and Clarke has been scoring goals for them for years. All in all a point gained in retrospect. We have to keep Leon fit though. It would seriously worry me if he got injured. he got a lot of rough treatment. Finally I thought the ref was good. Not nitpicking. Pretty obvious that you can still use your common sense if you're a lower league ref in England. The top refs up here are appalling.

A very enjoyable day. Many thanks to Fatbadger, Graham and James for making me so welcome. :drink:

Brighton, of course
Agree with most of what people have said about the Posh game, but I feel Mayo wasn't as awful as he seemed, if only because he got no support or outlet from Jones - who was truly poor. Also, I didn't think Danny Cullip looked as if he was 100% concentrating, which is something I've never seen before. Butters played OK, though, and Leon was undoubtedly on form. Pity we had no midfield to speak of, so his only service arrived from two hundred feet up, which might not be the best way to supply the ball to a 5-foot-four striker...

NOt only the prospect of injury for Leon, but suspension surely?

I think he's picked up at least a couple of yellows for "diving"?? Not sure how many exactly but it would be highly annoying if he missed any games due to suspension for accumulating 5 yellows.

Definitely need more depth to our strikeforce.

Well I would have my views if Meridian bothered to show any decent footage on sunday but nooooooo....more time on Gillingham!?!

A draw is a good result considering our recent performances though.

I think the fact that we're fourth and playing badly shows how good our players are. We've got a good side. They just need to be a bit better organised.

The main problem is holding onto the ball. We're losing the ball all the time. The midfield are the main culprits here. We seem to have no link between the midfield and the strikers. Hart doesn't attack like he can and should. The constant abuse from fans aimed at Jones is doing his confidence no good. He's so scared he'll make a mistake. McPhee is a decent striker but he's not the sort of the person you want to hold the ball up and let the midfield get forward.

We're not functioning as a team like we can. The defence is fine. Watson and Mayo are both good. Cullip is struggling a bit. Hart isn't making a big enough contribution. Carpenter doesn't link the play enough.

I think the side has got a serious confidence problem which must be sorted. A few wins hopefully and a bit of belief. 'We will win'.

McGhee looks like he's the man to do that.
