. I do think FDM was a bit guilty for the second goal. A kick-out that went straight to one of their players, which went to a cross that went in at the near post.

i noticed his kicking wasn't brilliant @ stockport , another thigh injury perhaps?

Just happy to break the run of three defeats.

What sort of league are we in when we can lose 3 on the bounce and then get 1 point from a draw and still be 4th ?

I'm not complaining, as I feel if McGhee can get us playing somewhere near our potential then promotion should'nt be out of the question - but he must strengthen the squad soon !

Kuipers looked as if he slipped but...the ball went to Watson who kept it in play by heading to a P'boro forward (McKenzie?) who crossed it for Willcock to score.

Both full backs were poor (again) today and got little help from Jones or Hart. Mayo needs to lose a few pounds and sharpen up, Waton needs to learn how to defend. It's been noticeable this past few games how opposing teams are exploiting these weaknesses.

Expect McGhee learned a lot today.

A useful point.

Reckon MM's notes on the Peterborough game probably look something like this:

Paul Watson: Doesn't seem very comfortable when asked to defend. Possibly something of a drawback for a defender.

Kerry Mayo: Hoof. Usually to our 5ft 4in targetman.

Nathan Jones: Gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking there was something wrong with my video recorder or the last 4 videos, but now I've seen it all too clearly. To be fair, he made the first goal (with a bit of luck), but how he keeps getting picked is something of a mystery. Probably better off in the League of Wales. Might give Wilkinson a go in midfield as he's not a striker. Now where is that wee laddie, Robinson?

Robbie Pethick: Who told me he was a midfielder? He isn't.

Leon Knight: Must remind the lads that he might prefer the ball to feet a little more often, rather than wiping the snow off it.

Kuipers looked very dodgy on the ball. Couldn't kick (which I will forgive as he has never been able to), comes out too early, and doesn't look that "safe". Watson was also pretty dire. Knight was fantastic, but we need another striker as heis our only goal scorer. If he gets injured, we will be in the same situation as last year with Bobby.

1st half was terrible. We didn't play well at all, but our support was great and we never stopped singing (Pikeys, give us a song made me giggle). But in the 2nd half, MM turned our team around with what must have been a great half time talk. We came out a more determined side.

I thought we deserved the point, but we are ALWAYS getting caught with counter attacks. Our midfield is a disgrace and we could do with a couple of new players on loan or brought in.

first half we were terrible, true. defending on both goals was rubbish. thought watson and pethick were poor. knight, mcphee and dare i say it? yes mayo, i thought all played well. but at least we stopped the rot and scored 2 more goals than what we have achieved in 3 games b4 that.

graz I'm glad you mentioned McPhee as I thought he had a good game. He gave their defenders a scary moment or two.

Our biggest problem at the moment is that our midfield is nonexistent.

just put on another thread that we need somebody better next to carpenter coz pethick is not the answer. when we get oatway or rodger back in things will improve. strengthen there and both full backs would be good.

Watto, Mayo, Pethick, Jones and Carpenter. What have they got in common? They all need to be replaced as soon as possible. Let's just hope that McGhee has noticed that and acts soon.

One of the problems with the 'oldtimers' is that they were used to BZ scoring the goals. That got sorted out last season and others started getting goals themselves.

Now we have Knight and every ball is passed to Knight to score. Defenders soon cotton onto that and even poor defenders can cope with that.

Chippy was in the penalty area yesterday and had a straight line into the goal (it was straight in front of me) and if he had shot at that moment we'd have won the game.
Instead he passed to Knight which was soon dealt with by their defenders.
If our other players believed in themselves a bit more and had more shots it would really challenge the defences in this division.

Watson,Mayo and Jones were very poor yesterday, and Kuipers kicking left a lot to be desired, definitely his dodgy kicking that lead to there goal, along with Watto having a nightmare to head the ball straight to there man!!

Wasnt pretty to watch at all,and we still arent playing anywhere near our potential,

Pethick in Midfield was a mystery to me,the only reason I can think of him being there is for his ability to knock decent crossfield passes everywhere.

I reckon we will see Roberts,Hinshelwood, and maybe Pethick as a Fullback on Tuesday, along with this new forward McGhee is meant to be bringing in.I would also have Piercy in for Jones on Tuesday.

Pethick was in midfield because we didnt have anyone else for the CM role, as Rehman wasnt being played because McGhee knew he was going to be recalled(according to the offical site)

yeah, when is this new forward coming?

Good display, coming back twice.Thought Peterborough looked quite useful especially going forward.Mark McGhee made good tactical change and was better then standing watching and waiting for something to happen like a certain Coppout did.
Look forward to the Boston and Lincoln games with interest.
Things could be on the up.
Will he sign any players this week ?

I can only reiterate what others have said - the midfield was non-existent (but can you blame Pethick, seeing as he was not playing in his best position - surely the 'tried and tested' midfielders should shoulder the blame here), Leon clearly needed the ball to feet more often, and the playing-field panic that went on in our box would have embarrassed a Conference side. Not Kuiper's best day, but he wasn't well protected. As for Watto ... I accept that they looked good down their left, but it wasn't exactly as if Watto was making them work to get their crosses in, was it?

Still, two more goals and one more point than we have managed in the last three games. Has the rot been stopped? Well, the performance says no.

I worry about the Lincoln game - they are returning to the form that got them to the play-off final last year. If we play like that at Sincil Bank, they'll do us over. What then for our confidence?

I dont think you could fault the commitment of the players but I cant help but feel disappointed at the result.
We are playing like a bottom 6 side and getting players in is a priority as we cant turn to the bench to change things.
In a way im glad that we lost points before McGhee joined as some fans would want him out after recent performances.
At least he has seen what needs to be done and hopefully we will have some players in this week.
The good thing is Division 2 is the worst its been for years so its still there for the taking but I would like us to keep the ball on the ground against Boston or we could be in trouble.

Very disappointed I'm afraid. Thought we were awful. Second half was a lot better, hopefully MM gave the team a rollicking. Watson and Jones were terrible, midfield non-existent but on the positive, McPhee and Knight worked well.
