So, getting a bargain will play against is in our efforts to get him a work-permit. If we'd paid more we'd be fine.

As far as I’m aware, the appeals are granted more on the chance of the player becoming a first team regular. So in short, paying a larger fee may have given Percy a better opportunity of being granted a permit as it would imply the player would be a valuable asset to the team in more than monetary worth. However, with the club not buying a big name striker in the summer, and loaning the lion of Judah out to a champions league club, there is an argument that he’d walk back into the squad and this may boost his chances.

Unfortunately for us, the rules are there to stop (big) teams stockpiling foreign talents from across the globe on the cheap and turning them over for a quick profit.

But that's what we are effectively doing anyway - just he's not playing for us. Same applies to Mac Allister.

With respect, the work permit rules, that have to date prevented Tau from wearing an Albion shirt, are nothing to do with that.

They are (in theory) about preventing clubs from giving a 'job' to (a non-EU) foreigner, that there are Brits equally qualified to do.

Its to stop sides filling their squads with better value foreign players at the detriment to British youngsters' opportunities / development.

Where high wages / transfer fees come into it, is that these are used as factors by the clubs in trying to convince a tribunal panel that the player involved is a special talent worthy of an exemption.

He looks plenty good enough to be given a chance in the Prem I wonder if the Tories immigration Austrailian style points system will finally allow Percy into the country to play?

We already have an Australian style points system for non-EU immigration, against which Percy will be judged (plus the specific rules for footballer work visas).

Naylor reports we have resigned ourselves to selling Tau for a profit in the summer. On the plus side he also says new striker from overseas might be incoming in January.
