Just to clarify the points are a running total which is why it is the equivalent games not just the first 15 games.

Sorry I give up you cannot convince those that cant see the trees from the wood. Last season played 14 games points 20 this season played 14 games points 20 last season played 15 games points 20 this season played 15 games points possibly 20, or 21 or even 23. making it a better start. I am not prepared to continue this as I know the answer and you cant see it.

You two are arguing two different points.

Bensgrandad argument:

1 Doncaster Home (3) / Hull City (0) Away -3
2 Portsmouth Away (6)/ Cardiff City (1) Home -5
3 Cardiff City Away (9)/ Barnsley (4) Home -5
4 Blackpool Home (10) / Burnley Away (7) -3
5 Peterborough Home (13)/ Sheffield Wednesday (10) Home -3
6 Bristol City Away (16)/ Watford Away (13) -3
7 Leicester City Away (16) / Millwall Away (16) 0
8 Leeds United Home (17) / Birmingham City Home (16) -1
9 Crystal Palace Home (17)/ Ipswich Town Home (17) 0
10 Ipswich Away (17)/ Derby County Away (18) 1
11 Hull City Home (18)/ Middlesbrough Home (18) 0
12 Millwall Away (19)/ Leicester City Away (18) -1
13 West Ham Utd Home (19) / Blackpool Away (19) 0
14 Birmingham City Away (20)/ Leeds United Home (20) 0

Comparing our points total after the first 14 games last season, to the points total after 14 games this season.

Thunderbolt's Argument:
HOME
Barnsley (3/3) 0
Birmingham (1/0) -1
Cardiff (1/1) 0
Ipswich (3/1) -2
Leeds (1/1) 0
Middlesbrough (1/0) -1

four points worse at home

AWAY (last season/this season)
Blackpool (0/1) +1
Burnley (0/3) +3
Derby (3/0) -2
Hull (1/0) -1
Leicester (0/0) 0
Millwall (1/3) +2
Watford (0/3) +3

six points better away

Meaning we are 2 points better off overall.

Not his D Day, but a big game.

We played really well on Friday night, and deserved to win, but really need 3 points tomorrow.

With some tough always coming up, it's imperative our home form picks up.

I refer you to your post #53 where you said we were 2 points better off overall and trying to show BG how you arrived at that. Never mind.

Not putting this thread out there to stir, but tomorrow really is crucial game for him after the run we've had recently. Arguably the easiest home game of the season and one we should really be winning by a decent margin with the squad we have. If we fail to win and then also fail to win the next few games (which are all tough) I can see a managerial change before we go to Selhurst.

To the Poyet faithful out there, this isnt a dig at him on a personal level, if Mourinho was in charge I'd have the same worry. The current run is simply not good enough for what we now have at our disposal.

IMO no!

What a bunch of BEDWETTERS there are on this thread.

Shock horror, 4 draws and 3 defeats in the last 7 games and people are ready to write Gus's obituary if we DARE to do anything but smash the granny our of Peterborough 3 or 4 to nil. I honestly cannot believe the SHITE on here sometimes.

Actually I can, I've been here long enough. Win, lose or draw, overreaction is the order of the day. We've had a slump in form and performances, its happened before and it will happen again. The WORST thing we could have done this season is hit top spot (again), as there's only one direction to go from there, then everyone starts running around panicking.

Christ up a stick, have a bit of perspective. We have no right to be rolling teams over week-in, week-out. Its still a work in progress. We had our best finishing position in over 20 years last season - now all of a sudden we're one of the big boys in this league are we ? Get real. Anyone DEMANDING nothing less than top 6 this season needs to set their sights to "Realism", and accept there are some bigger, better funded clubs in a very tough, competative league. And we ARE competing, but we are certainly not one of the frontrunners yet. Its going to take longer than a season and a bit.

The impatience is quite ridiculous.

Good to see that you, at least, have your sensible head on Easy.
I agree fully with all you have said.

But we are not we still have 20 points after 14 games we will beat teams that we lost to and vice versa it is the actual points that count not how we got them and against whom that decides where we finish up in the league. Also it was used to illustrate to those who think that Gus is in trouble as regards keeping is job that we are not worse off than last season.

Won't waste space by reposting Easy 10's excellent post again, but agree 100%.

NSC's strength is the spectrum of opinions it allows, but the endless stream of reecent posts that make statements like "we expect better" just make me wince. Why do we expect better? This club has spent FOUR SEASONS in the top flight in its 111-year history. Yes, we've got a great new stadium, years after other clubs of our size have done the same thing. We're finally playing to big crowds, we've attracted a great young manager, and we have players with pedigree in the EPL and La Liga.

None of that means we are assured a top six position this year or next. None of it means that beating Peterborough is what determines whether Gus stays or goes.

Just out of curiosity, if we lost tomorrow night (which I don't think we will), i'd like to know when all the.."everything is fine camp, no need to worry"..crowd would start worrying. The reason I ask this is because, relegation is not an option, I can promise you. It would be a total disaster for this football club atm, and if we can't beat a team in the bottom three, I would suggest we got a few problems, after the last 7/8 games...So it's a genuine question???...IF, we lost tomorrow, when would the don't panic crowd, start worrying, after Wolves, after Bolton....it's purely a question, as I believe we will win tomorrow night. So all will go quiet, until Saturday at least lol.

I understand your point BG, and I agree with you. Maybe people have misunderstood, or maybe wanted to so as to have an argument. For the record, I think any suggestion Gus is in trouble is beyond stupidity. I am delighted at how he is doing and how the team is progressing. Our newest signings haven't all settled instantly but it's not the end of the world and we're playing well so there is nothing to worry about. Realistically, our aim is top 6 and there is every reason to think we can finish there.

When we look like we have a team that does not care. When we look like we have players that may care but do not have the quality. When the management team no longer appear to care. There are no signs of any of these. These are the greatest of days for the Albion.

The thing is that any club can beat any other in this division. Some of our poor run is down to perfomances being shaky, but some is also bad luck. If we play like we played against Leeds, we should win, but it's entirely possible Boro will put 11 players behind the ball and win by a fluke goal. That won't make me worry about the bigger picture, or call for an overhaul of the playing staff. It will just spoil my evening.

We won't be relegated, and probably won't be promoted this year, but I still think there's more chance of the latter.
