I really don't understand why there appears to be so much disrespect and dislike for Paul Barber. He's at the top of his game and is so important to the club that TB has extended his contract until 2030.

It’s like listening to a politician making statements they can’t keep. Some fools buy it others think it’s bullshit. Recently on TS he clearly said Roberto pushes us all we will give him all the tools to succeed to hopefully achieve more European football and possibly silverware. A few weeks later Roberto’s out the door and we are back to square one. That’s not honesty we all know the real remit make as much profit as possible selling players and to stay in the PL.
The novelty amongst fans maybe wearing off already with 1000’s not bothering to attend matches recently.

To be fair, the pretendance is hardly a new thing, is it? When you are from Sussex and have spent several lifetimes with very little football achievement and a soft life with many distractions, the choice to not bother can be very tempting. We are not Mancs, scousers or cockernies, with several lifetimes of ignorance, poverty of wallet and spirit, and only the footballs to keep life just about worth living.

As for Barber, nobody knows that a manger is gone till the decision is made. Until then you back him, if you have any brains or class. We are not Wet Sham who openly toot for a new manager while the current manager is still on target for European football, having spent months undermining him by faint praise.

Barber LOVES the limelight. He must be top of the table of media interviews by an administrator across all industries over the last 10 years. He’s clearly very good at his job despite being the epitome of a media whore.

Strange as it may be I pay my money to watch football last season & early parts of this season wonderful stuff. RDZ tried to continue the upward progression and I believe wanted to improve the squad so it wasn’t so heavily reliant on key players like Mitoma.

Yes it would have cost money to do that but after all football at this level is an entertainment business we pay to watch football not listen to a CEO spout guff on media outlets.

Do I want to pay to watch Milner get roasted at RB or Welbeck miss yet another easy chance as he can barely score more than six goals a season? Not really Paul.

Astounded that Barber is getting criticism. Last time I checked it wasn't Barber who was touting himself for bigger jobs.

People need to get their houses in order. Trust that Barber and Bloom know what they're doing. They clearly think that his personality is detrimental to our objectives and if he doesn't get what he wants then he would have thrown his toys out the pram, again, next season. He does this at the start of a season, then we are in a relegation battle from game one, once you throw your owner and payers under a bus, it's hard to get that support back. Personally I think they have made the correct decision.

I think our succession policy ensures that when anyone leaves, it is not a crisis.

However, while I think it strange, (is this what clubs normally do?) it is a good opportunity for the Club to answer press questions in one foul swoop so to speak about our plans going forward and for RDZ to answer questions on what his future plans might be too.

I think you’re broadly right, although I wouldn’t expect too much in terms of answering questions. I’ve done some media training in another industry and you’re pretty much taught to say the same few talking points over and over and how to do so in response to different questions. I you see politicians doing this all the time. So basically expect various answers that essentially repeat the same statements from yesterday, with PB there to ensure RDZ doesn’t go ‘off message’ I suspect.

I think youve hit the nail on the head.

RDZ just wants succcess and to have all tools to get as near as he can to top 4, he wants what he thinks he needs to get there (whether he would or not is a different question).

The club would ideally like the same thing, but are not prepared to bankroll anything outside the turd polish/sell for profit model. That shows Bloom and Barber are prioritising the moneyball model over on field success, and while of course they'd like both, like our Europa league this season, the onfield success bit is secondary.

Prudence wins the day and we lose a talented, driven and supremely ambitious individual.

It may be a sound financial judgement, but it does also highlight the limits and ceiling of the club.
