RDZ just wants succcess and to have all tools to get as near as he can to top 4, he wants what he thinks he needs to get there (whether he would or not is a different question).

The club would ideally like the same thing, but are not prepared to bankroll anything outside the turd polish/sell for profit model. That shows Bloom and Barber are prioritising the moneyball model over on field success, and while of course they'd like both, like our Europa league this season, the onfield success bit is secondary.

Prudence wins the day and we lose a talented, driven and supremely ambitious individual.

It may be a sound financial judgement, but it does also highlight the limits and ceiling of the club.

It’s like listening to a politician making statements they can’t keep. Some fools buy it others think it’s bullshit. Recently on TS he clearly said Roberto pushes us all we will give him all the tools to succeed to hopefully achieve more European football and possibly silverware. A few weeks later Roberto’s out the door and we are back to square one. That’s not honesty we all know the real remit make as much profit as possible selling players and to stay in the PL.
The novelty amongst fans maybe wearing off already with 1000’s not bothering to attend matches recently.

The remit is most definitely not to make as much money as possible selling players and to stay in the PL. It is to build a sustainable top 10 PL club. I think you may be happier as a greedy 6 plastic fan. Have you considered changing your allegiance?

It's not strange at all. It's already been announced that de Zerbi is leaving after the match so you could surmise its stranger for de Zerbi to be there than Barber.

You seem to have a very simplistic view of football, and in fact, people. TB isn't perfect, but his a hardcore fan and his track record is pretty damn good. You don't know what Roberto was asking for, but you can bet your life that Tony wouldn't have turned him down over 30,40, even 50 mill. We gave him Dahoud and Fati, and look how that went. If he was demanding that we spend 60 or 70 mill on someone that the club didn't think was a good fit then I for one am glad that we said no.

You may care not much for figures and sustainability and all that bullshit but I'm glad that the two at the top do.

My late Dad told me when I was young - actually it was shortly after my first Brighton game (we lost) - that supporting a team/a friend - you are there through good and bad times. At the time Manchester United were the team everyone at school supported and I was laughed at for supporting Brighton.

There was no easy way to buy a replica shirt except the club shop (this was under A**her and Be**otti) which was basically never open. But I had one and wore it with pride.

Now my point isn’t a “history lesson” one; I.e everyone should feel the same as me. But nonetheless this is my view;

We just qualified for Europe for the first time in 122 years. We are playing football which has been (at times) the envy of the very same Manchester United my classmates used to boast about. On a fraction of the budget, as a much smaller club.

Despite sales, rampant injuries and a couple of failed signings, we are STILL on the brink of finishing in the top half of the top league in world football.

And it’s one man’s personal generosity which has made any of this possible. Mr. Bloom has more than earned the right for absolute, unconditional trust.

So yeah, I’m pretty f**king pleased with our lot.

I would agree with you - if you can’t enjoy this, you’ll never enjoy supporting the Albion.

Manchester City or someone else will be the club for you.

Isn't he one of the highest paid CEOs in the country? Not sure how much blood, sweat and tears he's poured in, odd that's the one area of spending we really do compete with the big teams

I hope he is. He deserves it. The systems he's introduced for succession planning and performance targets have been highly effective. Boring stuff, I know, but it underpins much of the club's progress.

Why not wait until we see the press conference before telling us exactly how it's going to be? Unbelievable negativity about this. I think it will be very cordial and a bit emotional.

Is that the best you can come with go and support City. How is your plan going to work then if you keep selling the best talent? It’s unsustainable we all know that.

We have about a 5% chance of any silverware and without significant investment which won’t be coming Europe probably was a one off. Top ten is an easy one because it could mean a mid table finish and if it’s just below it’s still been a good season.

Punching above our weight, finishing top 10 in the PL and occasionally competing in Europe is our ceiling bearing in mind we are competing against mega rich clubs who money launder and flout FFP rules.

In the last 20 years we have won as many major trophies as Spurs, Newcastle, Villa, Everton, Forest etc. only a handful of teams ever win anything unless they get a good cup draw. Leicester got lucky - won’t happen again.
