Terrible news. A fantastic defender in the first Albion side I watched. He and the rest of that team helped me fall in love with the club.

He was one of my favourite players as a child and I always remember thinking he was a giant and looked really old. Looking back on it now he actually looked quite young! Also when I was particularly young and didn't really understand the world I thought it was strange that he was a brilliant footballer and also in the Beatles!

RIP Paul, thank you for some wonderful childhood memories.
