Very sad. Wonderful player and lovely man who I once had the pleasure of having a pint with. Genuinely gutted. RIP

Jesus. Part of the team I first watched at the Goldstone. Shocking. His poor family.

RIP Super Paul McCarthy.

Same here. RIP Paul and condolences to his family – awful news.

Such sad news to hear about an ex player and at such a young age.

During his 7 seasons in the team he was one of the stand out players of that period.

RIP

Played seven years for the seagulls, then seven years for Wycombe Wanderers. Then went on to play for Ebbsfleet for eight years. Suspect he could have left us for something better earlier but was the kind of player that stayed with a club until he was no longer wanted. A decent loyal guy.

This is shocking news. Terrific player and one of my favourites.
RIP Macca - really hope the club show appreciation on Saturday.

Too young. Shows how lucky we are with our medical team now regarding Goldson. Didnt we come back with him after going to look at a young Robbie Keane at the time?
Whatever, always thought he was a solid player.

RIP Paul.

Genuinely shocked and saddened as I too had the pleasure of sharing a beer or two wth him back in the day. Makes me realise my own mortality when I consider that he was 5 years younger than me. RIP Paul.

Truly awful news. I remember him as a player so well. He was a loyal servant to the club - one of our reliable 'rocks' at the back. Terrible news. The world can be so unfair. RIP
