I'm not sure what Barber, or the club, think Naylor is going to do in these circumstances. If they want somebody who's little more than a mouthpiece for the club in the local press, then that mouthpiece would have little credibility among the support, is not likely to be taken seriously and therefore read very little. The club can put out press releases through Paul Camillin which say exactly what they want - that is not the role of a newspaper. The fans expect, I think, local press to (within the bounds of objectivity) ask questions, offer analysis and, yes, occasionally talk about what might happen in future, or what has happened where there's an information vacuum. Naylor's damned by one side or the other whatever he does here.
My own view is that what he wrote wasn't particularly hysterical and may even prove to be accurate, in time. Bleating about it when you've said absolutely nothing yourself serves only to further irritate an already frustrated fan (and therefore customer) base.
I'm sure there are plenty of reasons why Tony has invested in the Albion but I doubt any of them have anything to do with prestige, recognition or business. He's just a fan.Agree 100%, the seriously rich don't do this kind of investment purely for business reasons, they do it also for some degree of recognition and prestige so the suggestion he's gone tight or worse, maybe hasn't got the funds to spend to put us on a par with rivals, will not be comments well received - nor should they be when he's already spent well north of £100 million and counting and seen the start of any well deserved return delayed by a minimum of another 12 months!...

Something of substance would've been nice.

Interesting bit from me is where he says the next manager will have the same responsibilities as Oscar and Gus. This suggests that nothing will change on the transfer front, which worries me as it's led to the last two managers leaving.

Just a bunch of words put in sentences and bullet points. You will find that in all small local businesses and below is a mission statement from my local butcher.
