Correct me if I'm wrong, but from the utter spazfest trauma of the 12 year Amex planning application, I seem to recall that BF falls at least partly within the boundaries of LDC. The idea of a pub or boxpark there getting past the crinkled, tweed-dwelling bitter blue-rinse brigade that festoon that particular council office (not to mention Falmer Parish Council) seems about as likely as a senior tory properly declaring his tax affairs.

They'd tie it up in in planning permission red tape for years, costing fortunes, making the whole thing totally unviable. We know how they operate.

I reckon Bennett will rip up the concrete, and plant potatoes there.
Different times. Different councillors. Hugely more profitable pub. Doubtless many in the village cashing in, in one way or another, with minimal impact on their periods of quiet repose. Bat and Badger populations largely undiminished. Slight increase in upward glare on account of recently-installed deeply-shite fanzone lightshow. Need to nip that one in the bud sharpish for the benefit of all 😀

I admire your positive slant Tom. But NIMBYs and BANANAs never die. They just regenerate. And they will absolutely not stop, EVER, until these perennial timewasters can have their days / weeks / months / years sat in a dull municipal council chamber room to trot out their dreary shite in order to kybosh everything / anything they can.

You know this. We've been there

Dunno, mate. That was at least a decade ago. Then they only saw the negatives and somehow saw us as evil marauders. Really doubt that's still the case

Anything like a Boxpark or similar is probably pie in the sky.

As a DULLARD would tell you, football clubs need to sweat their assets, and another facility that will only get used 30-40 times per year MAX (PL, FA, Carabou, pre-season, Champions League...) is not really viable.

Bloom must have been offered the site before planning application went in. His gamble that this would be refused has worked . Now site worth far less than Bennett was hoping so interesting to see clubs next move. Cannot see Bloom passing opportunity to acquire site right next to Amex.

I bet some of them are still absolutely SEETHING at the Amex eventually getting the go-ahead, and would love nothing more than an opportunity to gum up any other developments the club puts forward.

But maybe I'm just bitter.

You could maybe squeeze it in, its a shame we didn't have a provision for something like this, its rife all over Europe, I was really impressed with Leverkusen's facility.

On the one hand, yes. On the other the stadium was designed when we were a League 1 club and the idea of a SECOND stadium would have seemed absolutely ridiculous. And it wasn't even our land

What do you think spazfest means?

Doesn't a women's football stadium have to have a minimum capacity of 6000 or so?
That's like early Withdean, you won't fit that on Bennetts field.
There wouldn't be an athletics track round it though.

I wouldn’t mind a Maccers there I have to say, though my cholesterol might not thank me for the suggestion! But perfect spot for one I would think.

Failing that, taking our lead from the July 12 commemorations in Northern Ireland, how about having a big bonfire on the site? Could have it around November time, and invite, say, Archer and Bellotti to be a key part of the occasion. It would surely be popular, maybe arrange it before the Maccers is built though.
