Truthfully, I thought he had an average-to-poor game yesterday for his standards. Yet he always has that bit of quality others lack to create something in a split second.

His passing was poor at times and he was caught in possession a few times - despite that he created everything good going forward. His cross which nearly found Buonanotte then his assist were both just moments of brilliance that he produces even when slightly off the pace.

Didn’t help that he was carrying Gilmour who was very poor yesterday.
Agreed, but he could have average to poor games from yesterday through to leaving the club and still wouldn't deserve the see you next tuesday treatment.

Our greatest value signing ever puts one onto the head of one of the all-time club legends.

Standard. What a time to be alive. These two will be talked about for decades to come.
This. It was almost the perfect combinations of players for the goal involvement, for me. Chuck in the Groß fake, followed by the Groß turn and it gets even better!

That sounds a bit "come and get me" to Bundesliga clubs.

I mean, I'd love him to stay, but if the fella wants to go home for the benefit of his family we should probably be forming a guard of honour from the Whitegates up to Gatwick Airport as he drives up
I reckon £500m should do it

Would hate to lose him but he’s been a fantastic player for us. I’ll back whatever he chooses, much as it will be a sad day to see him go. Wonderful footballer who has a good few years in him yet. Understandable that he wants to end his career back home and would go with nothing but gratitude as a club legend.

His contract expires at the end of next season so I reckon we've got him until at least then.

I was planning on giving us a slightly longer time frame to do it in but I guess we'll have to win the Europa league this year thus getting us into the champions league next year. We'll then have to win both the champions league and the premier league next season.

Tough but doable.

And a fitting farewell for Gross.

Unless he signs a new contract in which case we'll have a few more seasons to win them in.

He’d be one of the best players in the league if he does go back there. He’d be a great signing for Bayern.

Desperately hope he doesn’t leave but if he does want to, we shouldn’t, and I very much doubt we would, stand in his way.

If he does go, I want us to know in advance so we can give him the proper send off he deserves at the Amex

Ah, didn’t know that, thought he had another year.

Looking likely it might happen this summer then. He should get some great offers from all top Bundesliga clubs.

So if Alonso goes to Liverpool, I wonder if RDZ might pitch up at Bayern with Pascal?!

I got his contract info from transfermarkt so it could be wrong.

I'm rather hoping that we won't sell him but that if he goes then it would be at the end of his contract. The quote in the tweet isn't exactly desperate to get out of town.

"In principle, it is conceivable for me to return to Germany

However, it would have to be a project that really excites me."

But if he wanted to go this summer presumably we'd Dan Burn him and let him go relatively cheaply. Otherwise I'm not sure anyone would actually be able to afford him.

at home
I played golf with his father in law at West hove ( pascal plays there too) and although this was a while ago now, he did say he was very happy here and has a huge house up country

With the whole family being German I can understand him wanting the family to return home and especially as he has been called up for the national side. I suppose he is a bit out of sight over here and would be more at the forefront being back playing in the German league. And of course having his kids educated in Germany

It will be a sad day when he goes as I think he pulls our strings and is first on the team sheet for me.

I really do hope if we drop out of Europe and are looking at a mid table finish, this team doesn’t start to break up. I am not convinced we are a better side than last season and if we do lose players like gross, I haven’t seen anything in some of the youngsters that will replace him.

This was one of the things I heard as a big factor - having his kids educated in Germany rather than starting over here then moving
