I was very pleased when he re-signed, @ the WHU game he had a blinder and I was genuinely concerned that was the last we'd see of him.

To put that into perspective, I'm not in the slightest bit concerned we sold White, Bisssouma or sideshow Bob, all part timers by comparisson.

Our best signing of the summer, it was a great day when the news was confirmed.

Was there actually ever any truth that he could have gone to a German club this summer? Or was a contract extension always the plan? The ''we want you to stay'' chants at the end of last season made it seem like he could have been off.

In the last few weeks of last season, Cantor said it was known that Pascal wished to return home (this summer).

Personally I think the injury to Moder changed things. Maybe not a ‘not great’ contract offer changed to ‘worth staying’ one

Towards the end of last season, along with the rumours that he wanted to return home to Germany, I like many others thought, 'Fair enough, he's done a good job for us, but with his speed (or lack of it) probably best for both parties if he moves on'. I'd have been quite happy if he'd moved on and left the job to the young guns like Caicedo, Mac and Moder.

OK. Permission to change my mind?

The guy is amazing! Would have been a big loss.

Outstanding again yesterday.

Just watched the extended highlights and rather than people worrying about Welbeck getting injured (although he had a great game yesterday, too) I'd be more concerned at Groß being out for an extended period. Such an intelligent player – the assist for Trossard's goal was sublime, but as good was the determination to chase the ball down and keep it in play initially. Some amazing long passes too to Trossard in the build-up to the first goal as well as the move where he won the penalty.

For me, it's another example where I'd argue that instead of the squad being 'weaker' this season, the existing players are just performing better. It's almost as if the people who see these players day in, day out at training have a pretty good idea about what works and what doesn't!

Disappointing. Obviously they have some dirty good options in his roles, but I'm still pretty sure that if Gross was playing in a bigger or more German club, he'd be in the squad.
