Ah, it wasn't to be. Her opponent played some great shots in that 5th game and turned the match around.

Still, Bly's only 14 and has ended up with 2 bronzes from these Paralympics.

She can be very proud and Brighton can be equally proud of her.

Plenty more to come in the future.

For those who work or live in London (or know people who do) then I am working with a few GB Medallists on a unique charity day at the Olympic Park.

Lots of different entry and price points for corporates but especially excited by the after school family sessions with Q and A's, signing and selfie sessions plus a few activities where you try and Beat the Medallist.

Full details of the Corporate Day are on www.legacy300.com/homecoming and tickets for the after school sessions are on https://www.tickettailor.com/events/legacy300onesportingworld/1385002? each session is limited to 200 people hence the lack of a child rate, but it is to help good causes adding to the £635K the Athletes have raised.

Please spread the word...Ta.

Slightly OT, but did anyone else watch that Daley Thompson doc on BBC2 the other night ? An excellent insight. His father was murdered, his mother never once went to watch him in competition, so he had almost zero support until his auntie stepped in when he was a teenager and let him live with her while he trained (his mum just wanted him to get a job to help with the rent). Some fantastic Olympic footage of him from 76 onwards and the huge crowning glory of LA 84.

Its knocking about on iPlayer. Highly recommended, will get you in the mood.
I only found out the other day that Thompson played against Albion reserves for Wimbledon reserves in a Combination League fixture back in October 1994 at Plough Lane. Looking at the Albion programme which reported on the game, he had to be subbed off after 20 mins with a hamstring injury. He was 36 at the time!

Checking on his wikipedia page, I guess he tried to have a bit of a football career as he apparently played for Mansfield's reserves, played for Stevenage in non-league, had a brief spell with Ilkeston and scored for Reading in a friendly against Leatherhead a couple of months before that appearance against Albion.

Olympic legend and crap footballer. I think he's moved to the top of my dinner guest list.
