It's a bit like the London Olympics. The opening ceremony, the music, James Bond and The Queen together, Sir Paul McCartney - if you were British it was one of the greatest things you'd ever seen on television. The closing ceremony though - a total damp squib, but all it needed, as 'Heroes' got played after every medal ceremony GB got a gold during the games was the man himself - the late David Bowie - to sing 'Heroes' yet he was never asked and he wasn't there.

I bet Beckham was there though.

Was he? I'd always read Danny Boyle blew the budget on the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony was an afterthought thereafter.
