That's because there are team, individual and apparatus competitions. Last day today.
Re Countryfile's Matt Baker - an expert at nothing but madly enthusiastic about everything.

Bit harsh 😁, he was a prominent Gymnast in his youth, but had to duck out of the sport in his teens because of his anaemia. Might not be everyone's cup of tea commentating, but his enthusiasm is a lot of fun alongside the other two commentators.

I didn't know that he was a gymnast, I will take it back about being an expert at nothing. I do enjoy his enthusiasm though, even when it is misplaced. :)

 Interesting, he seems, to me, to be a jack of all trades, maybe he is

Matt trained in gymnastics from an early age for a number of years so he does know what he's talking about. As for country file he grew up on a farm & has worked recently on his parents farm so a bit insulting to say he knows nothing.

Now we have had four men fail on the Bar!!!! What is going on?
Reminds me of that women’s final in (I think) 2000 where the favourite finished 12th and just everyone had a nightmare. The pommel horse was set too high, the girls kept landing on their bums etc. seems to happen occasionally in gymnastics where everyone loses it together

When more and more fall or mess up I suppose you know your chances of a medal for a flawless routine is quite high. Which surely piles on the pressure and causes a higher likelihood for a mistake?

Is it just me or is there an overload of gymnastics? Seems to be on everyday with the same competitors doing much the same, showing
very impressive abilities but how many people throwing themselves around on various pieces of equipment do you want to see?

As an aside is Matt Baker an expert in EVERYTHING?
If you’re o relying on the BBC then they’re going to focus on these multi-event in one place things because they’re limited on options. Hence they’ve focused on gymnastics, athletics and swimming (and presumably velodrome when that starts), plus golf and sailing.

Yes, some beaming smiles on show. Biles got rather grumpy though. Apparently, the rush of wind from the crowd noise blew her off the beam.

Biles is the GOAT, it has been a joy watching her return to form this week,
