Cheats prosper. Hey ho.

No it's not what Palace did, but they had a lot of luck, only just getting into the playoffs in the end. This isn't what Palace did to get promoted though was it ?
Spent less than us in 2012/13.

It's not a reliable strategy to chance to future luck, really. A more solid professional plan would be sensible.
8 million loss per year vs 23 million profit. I know which I'd prefer going forward.
We could ...but by spending more money ? Palace didn't. Burnley didn't.
TB has provided the funds for players, far more than Parish and co and we've spent more on wages/fees than most of the other Champ clubs (without parachute payments) in the last 3 seasons including this year.
But it doesn't always follow, as this summer /season proved that promotion swiftly follows.
Perhaps if Barnes hadn't hit the crossbar.
Palace, Burnley, Blackpool. This season luck for the likes of Bournemouth, Watford, Brentford. Seem to be an awful lot of clubs that are trying to go up by a route other than spending someone else's money.

So you're saying Palace haven't gone up by spending someone else's money!
Looking at those 3 (and others) shows it's not a question of how much, rather how wise

Careful! You'll have the Palace fans on here saying how there is nothing wrong in swapping millions of pounds of debt for ten league points and then carrying on as if nothing had happened.I think they should pay back the St Johns Ambulance and other local businesses they absolutely fleeced over the past decade before they do that, don't you?
Can't help thinking that TB ****ed up big time spending the money on extra seats when he should have spent it on the team when we were actually going for promotion..
I did say this at the time on here so it's not great hindsight either.
We could quite easily have been in the position Palace are now in.
If you look at the whole season, it was an under-achievement in not steering that group of players to automatic promotion. Enough extra points should have been gleaned over 46 games to ensure a top two place..
Yup, the constant references to administration sound a bit desperate when
(a) there have been 59 instances of clubs going into admin in the past, and
(b) the Albion had an informal agreement with their creditors in which they did not pay all that was owed to them. The only reason why an administrator wasn't appointed was because there were no assets to sell. We're not whiter than white.
