I never realised Withdean had a 28,000 capacity, boy did I underestimate the number of empty seats.

You'd be absolutely right if you had actually filled the Withdean. I think I am right in saying that you only filled it in your promotion season?

Thinking about it, why are you on here tonight and not outside setting fire to stuff to celebrate the first anniversary of burning your own town?

Because I don't find the destruction of local property and shops very funny. In fact, I'm quite shocked that what was an appalling event causing a lot of damage and misery to innocent people nationwide is joked about.

I would worry about your own attendances as it seems your owners are.

Our attendances are completely average for this division. We get what you would expect a championship club to get.

More fans would be great, but fickle fans are bored of seeing Palace in the Championship. It's our natural level. People will come back when we over-achieve and reach the top flight again.

It is not a simple matter of filling the ground.

We were there for 12 seasons. It was not a football ground, as you would know had you been there.

We had to listen to the wailings of opposing fans complaining about it. They had to go there once a season (twice or more if very unlucky). This is on the back of two years of exile and almost a decade of the club being run down and an unpleasant stadium/atmosphere for many.

When you've been through the same thing, you can prophesise on how great (or not) the die hards are. I think a great deal of clubs would struggle to fill a ground, more suited for athletics meets, over a period of twelve years than you realise.

Weren't you bumbling along with sub 7,000 crowds during the eighties? When football began to recover, we found ourselves in the hands of some hellbent on destroying us. You set about a plan to rip of many creditors over a reckless period of nearly two decades.

It's hilarious seeing you lot trying to use our attendance at Withdean as the benchmark for our support. It can't be easy seeing our 'plastic' fans returning is such numbers whilst your 'fickle' fans need 'Buy 1, get 2 free' offers just to plug the hole of your disappearing fan base. Get used to it-the tide has turned.

On NSC for over two decades...

No, you're not right.

Neither are you right about "gaining 20,000 fans", the increase in season ticket sales between the last season at Withdean and the first at the Amex was only about 14,000.

Not all of their fans are as deluded as those that post on here this guy on the BBS seems to sum the current situation up pretty well...........

"Any optimisim I had for the new season was extinguished a week or so ago when it started to become clear what our ambitions would be for this season. Parish's interview confirms it and he should have the convinction to come out and admit it: we are a relatively small club with very little money and we'd be punching well above our (current) weight to get anywhere near the play-offs.

Parish talks a good game and I genuinely respect and like the guy, but his ambitions run ahead of the reality of where we are. It's about time we all realised this - getting to midtable would represent a good season. We are nowhere near stong enough to compete above that and very few signings are likely - and those that do come in will be 'rough diamonds' or under-performing players that we would hope to get more out of.

I think as soon as we realise this, and forget any claptrap about pushing for promotion, then we'll all be in a better mindset for the new season. Forget any hopes you had of exciting new signings as it won't happen, and that's understandable. We'll focus on youth and a mix of players that have a point to prove.

The final reflection I'd have is that Parish and co shouldn't bemoan the fact we don't have higher attendances unless they can deliver a step change in the style of football we deploy. Everyone knows last season was dire - well, the second half anyway - and the only way crowds will start to come back is if the entertainment value is upped.

So, Freedman needs to biuld the side around Zaha and Williams in particular and we need to find a goalscorer from somewhere. Then we need to pray for limited injuries and suspensions in key areas as we'll be exposed otherwise.

The interview is a reality check. Time to accept where we are, lower expectations, and support the club as they'll need all our support if we are going to stay up, let alone push higher up the league"

I never said that was a done deal. I said it was very likely that he would sign for us, he wanted to come and that Leeds had accepted our bid.

All of that was true. Leeds changed their minds at the last minute, which is why he is not currently a Palace player. We are still interested in signing him.
Hmmm...
Somebody is telling porkies aren't they?
They certain are Bwian:
McCormack has agreed terms with Palace, a fee has been agreed with Leeds[...]Ross is an Eagle :)

Do us a favour Seaside, f*** off. The worst thing about you is you can't even hear how you sound, blindly spouting your bullshit propaganda from The People's Republic of Selhurst. The sweet taste of denial is absolutely f***ing delicious, I won't deny, but you are without a shadow of a doubt the most boring Palace poster in the history of NSC. Even more than GlennMurray. And that's saying something, because baiting him was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Ace ! Happy for you as by your logic crowds will be up in League 1 in 2013/4. Cool :salute:
