Not entirely true though is it? Was Julian Speroni a mercenary? Inigo Calderon at BHA? Le Tissier? Jedinak? Steve Bull? There are plenty of examples throughout the game, today and yesterday, of players who have more going on upstairs than pound signs, unfortunately in the Premier League this goes out the window somewhat and you end up signing overpriced dross of questionable motives and sporadic to non-existent footballing skills like Adebayor or Cabaye (who, it has to be said, was arguably a decent player until he signed for you). No matter how much you try dressing it up, it's not great is it?

Before Calderon became a legend he went off looking for a better deal at Saints.

The world is now officially mad

Well, Liverpool paid £32 million for him, so I don't suppose they want to be making too much of a loss on him. Benteke would suit Palace's system and style of play a lot better than he suited Liverpool's. Keeping him fit would be the big issue though.

it's not that much when they only pay 10p in the pound

FFS it's not that much money when you've just been paid £200,000,000.

Why is this so difficult for Brighton fans to understand?

I thought palace fans believed Benteke to be a diving cheating *******? Although, of course, that's a quality they appear to admire in a player.

Can see what they are trying to do - wingers and a couple of big strikers

He dived and cheated against us, yeah. So did Shane Long, but I'd take him in a heartbeat as well.

Tomkins and Dann are ball-playing CB's and the likes of Cabaye and McArthur can play a pass, so I don't think it's likely that we'll become a hoofball team.

Regardless, Mandanda is arguably the best signing anyone has made this summer. He's probably one of the top 10 keepers in Europe and will be a massive upgrade on Hennessey.

No, but you had a load of wingers and no one to put the ball in the net - granted I didn't see much of you last season and can only really go by the two games against Spurs and the few times on sky...

Er, we have got to Wembley and we have played in the top division. Oh, hang on, sorry, your club only existed since 2010, I forgot.

LOL ..... sorry I forgot about Brighton's "golden era" of the early 80's (I suspect there wouldn't be too many Brighton fans who can remember it either)

I do like to come on these boards when either we have a bit of success or are in the news, just to see how bitter you lot are. There's more Palace related threads on here than on holmesdale.net !

Keep up the good work chaps. It does make me smile.

Then may I be the first to welcome you back from what must have been a fairly long absence.

And yea, these boards are just inundated with Palace threads, on occasions we do discuss Brighton though, in between your 'bits of success'.
