Got told this too. Monday a possible date to be changed to - guess it’ll be up to the premier league.
Monday seems a sensible date. Who makes the ultimate decision? PL or can police step in and force a change, or just raise objection?

Surely it can’t be on Monday as most of the players are on international duty from then?

Good point - not sure. I got told this ‘Yeah they've put in a request with the premier League I think it could be the Monday night but don't hold me to it’ - but I’d say the request thing is very true.

Not a clue if the police can force it but I guess ultimately the premier league.

Just seems highly unlikely they could eat into the international break? Fixtures start just a few days later (from Friday) and players might have to be halfway round the world?

I imagine Friday evening wouldn't be much more feasible given the nobbers will need trains fully running post match, from 10 pm which hasnt really been the case with recent strikes.

There’s no strike on Friday it starts at 00.01 Saturday morning and ends at midnight as far as I can see? So Friday evening or Sunday are the obvious choices?

I think the point is trains haven't been great once you've reached 10pm the day before a strike so unless special arrangements are made there is no guarantee post match on the Friday

Yes, but previously the service has significantly wound down the evening before the strike started and vice versa.

I understand it's because trains need to finish in correct positions, not just wherever they are at midnight.

Sunday afternoon, would seem to be OK on this basis though.

Absolutely not enough busses and drivers

The suggestion on here from multiple posters in December was that there would be no buses/drivers for Boxing Day and Brentford. . There was.

I’ve no idea what the contingency plans are for Palace - and it won’t be easy I’m guessing - but not helpful for fans attending , unless you’ve credible inside/useful knowledge , to declare “carnage” or dismiss viability of alternative plans before they’ve even been announced.

There were not adequate alternative options available for the Brentford game on Boxing Day, which was one of the reasons the stadium was less than half full. If parking for the Palace game is now limited even further, that will cause a real problem particularly for less mobile fans. I don’t think anyone is saying there won’t be any buses/drivers for the Palace game, just not enough! I’m off to dust my bike down now...

As others have said, the evening pre-strike and the day post-strike don't see trains operating particularly well.

I think it's about using the least worst option should the League ratify the request to move the fixture.

Have the club definitely put in a request to move the match?

If so, I guess the Premier League will have a panel to make a decision, similar to when requests were made to have games postponed due to Covid

But I haven't even seen a suggestion from anyone of what could be a feasible 'alternative plan', or more likely 'plans' since the strike was announced

Agreed. There wasn’t a like for like service - no. Travel outside of Sussex was of course extremely difficult/limited. But a plan was put in place and staffing and vehicles was arranged.
And thousands used it. But there definitely were posters arguing that that was going to be impossible on here and likewise some are saying the same for Palace. (And agreed the scale and complexity of Palace is very different so who knows…but the club have a good track record).
(PS: The small crowd at Brentford wasn’t just about transport )

I cycled for the first time from Shoreham for the Leicester game ... worked really well and will be doing so again for Palace
