On the whole, I agree with the pragmatism. In last night's circumstance though, it was pure cowardice. I'd have been hugely disappointed if Potter's Albion had done the same. Not with the final result, of course, but with the lack of intent. It was all very Chris Hughton.
To be honest, even without Liverpool at full strength, I think that man for man Liverpool are a much stronger team – and I suspect that would have become even more apparent if Palace had tried to get on the front foot and attack a bit more. In the first 15 minutes I had a feeling that Palace were about to get thrashed. With the personnel at their disposal I don't really blame Palace for their cautious approach, even when Liverpool lost Nunez.
