Palace earnt £77m this season

Makes no odds to me, looking forward to an exciting season ahead which, in theory, can only be better than the last.

Palace however will struggle to repeat the position from this season.

What is this obsession with the PL, if we get there we get there? If we have an enjoyable season with some exciting games then happy days.

Don't fans of every club want their team to play at the highest possible level? Else why bother competing? Can't say I've been arsed to check, but pretty sure most fans of most established Prem clubs are muttering about not qualifying for European trophies. In fact, I'd guess that most Hammers fans are probably grumbling about something or other about QUALIFYING for European trophies. Probably the Barca board is full of moany fans moaning for no good reason at all. So it goes.

I am not saying we should not strive for it, I am simply saying we 1) should not be obsessed with it and let it eat away at our insides and 2) accept that only 20 sides fit in there. There are other clubs feeling exactly the same, but nobody, NOBODY has a divine right and should enjoy the journey since that is usually more fun than arriving, should it ever happen. We have spent a very small part of our history in the top tier, and I cannot see that changing overnight. Hopefully it shall in my lifetime.

Sadly I can't see us competing in the same division for a long time, unless something spectacular happens to them and they get relegated. They're well and truly established in the Premier League now

Well who knows. They ended last season having finished 11th and with Pulis in charge. By Christmas they were headed for the Champ with Warnock struggling.
They changed manager and were transformed. But who knows if Pardew was getting on better with Mike Ashley. We could be playing em next season.
In 2011/12 Palace had just finished their 7th season in the Championship and struggled to a miserable 17th. Their defeat of us at the Amex being a rare highlight. You should have seen some of the gloom and doom on Holmesdale etc then.
Not far off some of the stuff on here in recent months and they weren't too pleased with 7 goal a season Glenn Murray either.
Things change. Quite quickly. For all clubs.

Obviously some on here think we're bobbins and our best players are worse than Whitehawk FC but most people i suspect wouldn't think the chances of Palace/Albion meeting up again in the league are that unlikely.

Totally agree with you. But if nothing else, I want it for Tony Bloom. He thoroughly deserves a wider set of plaudits than the Albion faithful could ever give him. SKY love coming here, as does FBS, and the RWC. It's a magnificent arena. But to achieve its full potential, it needs to be hosting Prem games as standard ideally. At least for one season for the parachute payments, same as more and more clubs in the Championship get. The alternative is a slow but sure drift into League One.

What is the criteria as to what can or cannot be accepted as sponsorship for FFP as I am sure I re.ad that a company owned by the same person as Forest is, the sponsored them and all they have got is a meaningless ban on transfers and maximum wages. No doubt one of the owners companies will be paying players £10K a week part time consultancy fees to supplement their maximmum permitted wages from the club.

Well it seems that some are convinced that Palace will be in the Premier League for eternity, climbing higher and higher, and that we are going to be sinking lower and lower.


It really won't be like that. We have seen how a playoff team can descend to a relegation outfit in 12 months and it won't take many bad decisions or luck for the palace house of cards to come crashing down.


We have our own problems with a significant squad strengthening required this summer, and really all we need do is focus on that.

When we go up to the Premier League, Palace will either be there with us, or their star will have already fallen - it's as simple as that.


It's really not worth spending any energy on those goons until we meet again.

I find it really hard to begrudge them it too surprisingly.

We are so far behind them now it's untrue, in fact there was less of a gulf between us when we were dicking around at the arse end of the Football League than there is now.

agreed.....and credit where credit is due they had some great results last season , just goes to show what can be achieved with a bit of EFFORT from so called "average" players.......Jedinak has a lot to answer for imho.

Hypothetically speaking, I still don't think he would. He bleeds blue and white and if he is a Billionaire that some say he is, he doesn't need to sell, even for 600m (obviously we aren't worth more than whatever Prem money we get and infrastructure etc).

Either way I would be SHOCKED if he ever did move on, unless he needed the money.

I stand to be corrected here bit do I recall one of those Seagull Player interviews where he was asked about selling ever. Whilst openly stating that it was not on the cards, I recall him saying he would not rule it out as ever happening.

That was down to poor management on the field rather than the money supply. I am sure given the same investment we would nt make the same mistakes.

Reports at the time show that we actually agreed a fee for the player. The same as Celtic. He chose Celtic because he wanted to play Champions League football or preferred the Glasgow nightlife . Not because Bloom and Barber were "arguing" over saving a few quid.

Not according to Stefan Coerts,the Dutch journo that was covering the story at the time,the whole deal falling through was instrumental at the time for Gus throwing His toys out the pram.
