Sorry to start a seperate thread, on it, but on the Transfer Window thread, someone has posted a 'quote', stating that;

"Brighton are in advanced talks with Stockport keeper Owain fon WIlliams".

Can anyone shed any light on this, please?

Would be a great signing, in my opinion, especially so if it happens before Tuesday!

I would be stunned if we managed to snare him, as there is interest from much bigger clubs and he has been linked to the premiership

You mean their rumours are even less reliable than the ones posted on here?

Michael raynes is 22 a centre half and stockports captain, has played 130 games for them and it is between us and scunthorpe for him, however i believe we have now made a joint bid for him and fon williams, and given we have a good understanding with stockports administrators i reckon we have a good chance of getting both players.

ANOTHER centre half?! Is he any good? Fon Williams is meant to be top class so if we can get him that will be fantastic. Should also sort the defence out seeing as he'll have 3/4's of last season's stockport defence infront of him...

I can't believe we're going to get (Fon) Williams - he's a class act, who's been linked to bigger clubs than us.

And does anyone know whether Fon is a second forename or part of a double-barrelled surname? It's a strange name: it makes him sound German (F is pronounced V in Welsh), I've no idea where it comes from unless his parents are from Anglesey (Sir Fon in Welsh)

Has 'Fon Williams' on his shirt from what I recall, when we were ABUSING him at Edgely Park last year! I always assumed it was a 'from/of' suffix, like the dutch 'van'.

Aww, all this excitement reminds me of the triumphant glee we had when it was announced we managed to get greame smith before the top SPL teams could sign him...

Difference is, most of us have actually SEEN this guy play a few times.

Welsh for "from" is "o" or "oddi"

He's a Gog so it's bound to something weird - I know a few Welsh speakers, I'm going to find out
